The official 'QUESTIONS TO THE BAND' thread

Why does the band is named PYRAMAZE ?Who 's got the idea of the name of PYRAMAZE ?

I chose the name Pyramaze based on a connection of the words 'Pyramid' and 'maze'. I've always been fascinated by the Egyptian mythology, and at some point, when i had to find a band name, I sat down and played with the word 'Pyramid'. Suddenly I found myself with 'Pyramaze' -and that's basically how that happened. I think both 'Pyramid' and 'maze' represent something mystical and powerful, so I found that Pyramaze would be a nice name for a metal band.

thanks Toke...and that brings me to my next question (for any member)...will there be a show filmed for a Pyramaze DVD on the upcoming tour(s)?

We will film as much as possible at our future concerts, but when we will have enough material for a DVD is a hard guess.

To any member- How do you guys work with Lance? If you come up with a song idea, do you email him parts of the song, or have some kind of "webcam rehearsal"?

Well, actually Lance is not involved in the song writing process, until we send him the finished music and all the lyrics. That's when Lance's work starts. He then finishes the vocal melodies in his own studio, and uploads those on a secured homepage, where we can check it out from day to day. If there's something I want to change about his vocals, then I call him on the phone, or write him a mail with the changes - but now that Lance knows what kind of vocal arrangements I like, he always comes pretty close to perfection without me having to interfere too much. Once the vocals are as they should be, we download everything into pro-tools again and mix/master it back here in Denmark.

The wonders of technology. Thank you for answering my question. Any chance of Pyramaze hitting the united states anytime soon?

We hope so, but it's not really up to us. It's up to the promoters who run the festivals. Right now we are planning concerts in Germany and Denmark for next summer, and hopefully we will get some offers from fests in the states too.

But at PP Lance promised my wife you guys would play Chicago. What gives? :D j/k He said he'd love to, but it wasn't up to him. Your promoter should put together a tour with somebody else who "should" tour the U.S. (I'm thinking Kamelot).

My question is: Is there a Minotaur at the center of a pyramaze? ;) I always thought it was a combination of "pyre" and "maze" so I always pronounced it wrong until I heard Lance say it. Then the light bulb went off and I thought, "Oh yeah. That's way cooler." Now I just have to get out of the habit of calling you guys Pire-amaze.

do you have any advice for songwriting?

yes. start with a catchy chorus/main riff, then build on that. after you have that and some good versus, you are well on your way to a solid song. don't forget to incorporate song good key changes. a good key change at the right moment is priceless... cheers -jonah
