First and foremost I want to say I think it is awesome that this question be posed. It not only gives us restless fans somthing to do, but really demonstrates the bands interest in their fans and their opinions. Kudos.
(in chronological order so I can keep myself organized):
1. Damnation Game
2. Of Sins and Shadows
3. Out of the Ashes
4. Accolade I
5. Smoke and Mirrors
6. Church of the Machine
7. In the Dragons Den
8. Through the Looking Glass
9. Fallen
10. Communion and the Oracle
11. Rediscovery Part I/II
12. Accolade II
13. The Odyssey
I have heard quite enough of...
Inferno (either get the timing right on the intro or leave this in the dust)
Evolution (hard for the band to ditch I'm sure, but I've had my fill)
Wicked (never really found this to be that good live in the first place)
Sea of Lies (I feel like this song is only played live because of the middle
section with the tapping...we know MJR can do it by now
)
King of Terrors (boring live, and 'to the left and to the right' looks goofy)
And here comes the lengthy rationale on the choices...
Damnation Game - haven't heard anything from the album live yet and this song has tons of energy and cool guitar work that would be awesome live
Of Sins and Shadows - yeah, its a staple live, awesome solo section, and really pleases those quasi-fans who are only there to head bang.
Out of the Ashes - saw it live on one leg of the last tour and it was awesome, gave me a whole new respect for the song
Accolade I - somehow this track seems synonymous with Symphony X
Smoke and Mirrors - perfect live song because of the energy, attitude, melodic break, kick ass solo duel.
Church of the Machine - saw it live on one leg of the last tour and it was the highlight of my night.
In the Dragons Den - the song is fantastic and has yet to be featured live, despite the clamour I see for it on this forum all the time.
Through the Looking Glass - to me, of the Symphony X epics, this one has the most unity and cohesion, and I love seeing X perform epics live.
Fallen - I really don't know how to describe what makes this song so awesome live, but it was my fav the first time I saw them. Plus that whole intro to the solo section is unbelievable.
Communion and the Oracle - One of the most atmospherically effective songs from the band - always brings to mind specific colors and images.
Rediscovery Part I/II - Because these conclude V flawlessly
Accolade II - awesome song and can be paired with accolade I
The Odyssey - epic encore to end it, the song speaks for itself.
Of course I would always be down for V performed in its entirety
