Well we have a Thrash thread, a Black metal thread, and lots of death metal threads and I asked myself "why don't we have a Powermetal Thread"? Anyways I only started getting into it a few months ago and I love it. So far I like Blind Gaurdian, Demons and
Wizards, Iced Earth, Helloween and Sonata Artica.

I don't see the problem with having more specific threads. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

I'm not that big on the genre myself, but I recently heard Iron Savior and Angra. I recommend them both.

I love a good power metal band that stands out from the rest, but I've been too lazy to really delve into the genre.

I like Iced Earth and DragonForce, but that's about it. (and no, don't start up on me, saying they can't play and shit. I don't care if it's a 12-year-old piecing it together note-by-note on a laptop, the music still kicks ass.)

I'm not really big on the genre, I prefer Death/Black.

My beginnings were in power metal, and though I am not much of a fan nowadays, Blind Guardian still lingers in the upper echelons of my favorite bands and I have a bit of a soft spot for early Helloween, Sonata Arctica, Symphony X, the Lord Weird Slough Feg, and many of the early speed/power/NWOBHM bands.

why would you come to a power metal thread if its not your thing?

anyways, i love power metal, and the cheesier the better. blind guardian is probably my favorite.

a new band i discovered is rob rock. i'll putting up a review of their new album shortly, but i like it. also check out the debut from dissidant saint, for a unique take on prog

I've made attempts at power metal in the past. I remember making a thread requesting some power metal entry bands for a black metal fan. I was recommended Stormlord and wasn't too impressed.

yeah, its not for everyone

although it kind of amuses me. most metalheads dont like power metal because of the clean vocals. and most average people dont like metal because of the dirty vocals
