Nice man! I'm sending copies of my MA thesis off to Arizona Quarterly, hoping they'll publish it.

I want to do the PhD track as well, but I'm in the same boat; I'll want a top-15 program, and I'll want funding. If I don't get either, I'm not doing it. It's just not worth it.

I love writing essay's, everyone is bitching about first reading the book and then having to write an essay that's 4-5 pages double spaced...seriously? So easy. On the surface the book just seems like one about religion/faith etc. but it's much more than that and no one seems to get it so far...writing it has been fun actually, even if i'm not religious I can still connect to it.

Anyone here do well on the GRE? I just took it today and got the threshold at which I would have committed seppuku had I done any worse (~80th percentile on both sections). Right now I am deep in a state of meh.

Oh, and I found it amusing how many of the vocabulary words (both in practicing and the test) I knew because of death metal bands. Probably more a testament to by general illiteracy but, still semi-lol.

Have not taken GREs but I remember taking SATs and knowing a lot of shit because I'm into metal (misanthrope was one ).

I did very well on the verbal (Latin FTMFW) and kinda dismally but not abysmally on the math. Also, they grade hard on the writing.

I did better on the ACT. I still contend that the standardized tests don't really mean anything other than how well you can perform under pressure.
