The School/Uni Thread

Anyone else working on a thesis or dissertation? I know Zeph's doing his translation...

I'll be working on my Master's thesis next semester. It will probably be on a topic in political philosophy, most likely having to do with controversies relating to libertarian political philosophy.

good god no. but that's sweet you're doing your's on Blood Meridian. There should be plenty of research on that. I'm doing a 10-12 page paper on House of Leaves, and I've found 6or 7 articles total

I remember you said you were doing yours on House of Leaves. That's awesome, I'd like to check that out when you're done. I'm surprised you've found that much written on it, to be honest. A decent amount has been written on Blood Meridian, but it's funny because the scholars that have published material on it all cite each other as sources. It's still a relatively new book, so there's lots to be done with it, I think. I'll probably try and make Cormac McCarthy my focus in grad school.

That sounds interesting, especially since I lean libertarian in lots of cases. I know practically nothing when it comes to political philosophy, but philosophy (in general) is actually a large part of my thesis. I'm looking at Blood Meridian in conjunction with the theories of Neitzsche and Heidegger.

it's actually kind of sad because the two articles I've read so far on HOL have absolutely made me not want to write a paper on the book because they were that good

Reaction Engineering
Thermodynamics
Heat Transfer
Process Systems Analysis

Sounds like alot of fun huh, I'm getting thrown integral equations left right and center. I got no more electives(the 'fun' ones) left to do in my course.

What are you majoring in?

So where did you end up going to grad school?

Also, be sure to link/post your thesis whenever you finish. I'm sure a few of us here will want to read it. :)

I'd guess chemical engineering.

I'm at Arizona State University right now. I suppose I'll give access to my thesis if I think it's good enough, but I'm usually not satisfied with my own work.
