The School/Uni Thread

I've been into audiobook lecture series for over a year now. Anyone interested in history should check out the Modern Scholar series. I'm currently listening to one about World War I and just downloaded one on Napoleon and the French Empire.

I've been getting them all through my subscription to Audible. It's a great way to fill in those gaps of non-thinking while I walk between classes and such.

I know, thanks. I'm definitely trying. Some of it's kind of hackneyed, but I think that has to be the case. I'm including lots of personal stuff that I think is unique and interesting (like classes I'd like to teach someday based on what I've studied so far).

Having gotten a B.A. in English Linguistics, I'm at the crossroads between getting a teacher's diploma and taking professional translation courses. I'll probably go with the latter.

my paper on House of Leaves has ballooned to 18 pages. It's supposed to be 12 - 15 :erk: oh well. we'll see if my professor minds. time to trim, revise and complicate my text

in the meantime, I have yet to start on my other paper which is supposed to be between 15 and 20 pages. that one I am actually somewhat concerned about generating enough content for.

So I just started looking at grad schools. So far UC Berkeley looks best for Ancient History. I'd love to be a Byzantinist but you need to know a fuckton of languages.

I graduated from University of South Florida yesterday. I'll be moving back up north for the time being, and hopefully get accepted to grad school somewhere.

I've found professors seem to mind more if the paper is too long than too short. Maybe they are just lazy :p

I fixed my margins. MLA calls for one inch margins. MLA can go fuck itself. I widdled em down to 0.79 (the default in open office) and shrunk it down to 15

oh and congrats, Einherjar :kickass:
