The School/Uni Thread

Got accepted into University of California - Riverside. No idea about the financial stuff right now, but its still nice to know I've been accepted.

nice! that's a really good school...they have a really good creative writing program (though I'm not sure what you're planning on majoring in)

I'm planning on majoring in Psychology, though its good to know that they're respected and what not. Next month I find out if I get into the UC Irvine and/or San Diego campuses, then I figure out finances and if it doesn't work, I go to UNLV.

Anyone, any idea how good Drexel is for undergrad?

Depends on what other schools you're looking at, your SAT scores, transcript, etc. As far as small private liberal arts schools go, it's not bad but it's not great either. I think I thought about applying there but ended up going to a more name-brand difficult school and I'm glad I did.

I graduated from four year liberal arts college and I'm pretty much not planning on going to grad school. Academia is not my preferred sphere of the universe...I'm good at it, but I'd rather just work.

I'm not interested in doing Liberal Arts. I'll be doing Economics as my major, if at all. I pretty much screwed up my SAT so Wharton didn't happen. I got into Duke but without financial aid it's out of the question. Now, I know that it can't possibly match an Ivy League college, but I got into Drexel with a huge grant and aided by the fact that I have relatives in Philly I decided to consider it. I have a few months to make up my mind whether I want to go there or to England to more renowned school, so I wanted some opinions on that.

Yeah money is a terrible thing. It blows my mind how much it costs to go to school.

Drexel is rated #88 of U.S. universities and #96-98 in the world. You could do a LOT worse. I'd base your decision on whether you want to live in England or the USA to be honest. In this day and age a degree is a degree.

Loans are great if you want to pay them back forever.

Financial aid is great so long as your family has no money.

I go to a state school and have gotten a few scholarships, including one that pays for my tuition...all in all I'll owe less than 30,000 likely, so not really forever :p
