The School/Uni Thread

Finished all my damned applications for financial aid and such tonight; at least, I think I did. I'm so lost when it comes to filling out this fucking shit.

Doing a seven-week program at Middle Eastern Technical University in Ankara, Turkey this summer. Taking a Turkish language course and an international-relations-as-relates-to-Turkey course. Pretty fucking stoked on it, mostly because I enjoy foreign cultures and languages and spending two months living one day in day out is bound to be pretty exciting/educational.

I finished up my college exams this past week and they went pretty well imo, except I'm one point away from an A as opposed to an A- in Jazz :|

Anyways I'm going to UNLV next Wednesday to register for classes, meet with an advisor, get my student card and so on.

Getting anything better than that is going to be hard though, most rewards I've seen are similar in the amount of money left over to pay. If you decide to transfer to another school in California from there like Berkeley or UCD, then it will be waaay cheaper.

Plus, it doesn't look like your loans (sub & unsub) are even near the maximum, so if you are going into a field that actually has job opportunities, you could get another 4.5k from those loan types and be better off.

Do you go to UCD or have you done it in the past or something?

So I just figured out that the major for Psych only requires around 40 or so credits, and then approx 32 elective credits which means I can get a minor without having to spend extra time/money. I'm thinking either Criminal Justice or Business.

I just finished a 28 page literature review entitled, "Weighing the Scales: A Look at Views on Standardization, Scales and Grading Student
Compositions in Early 20th Century America." And so ends my first year of grad school.

let's hope my professor says the same thing haha. really, at this point, after having finished it, I don't really care what grade it gets. I'm just glad it's done

Pretty much everyone in the world is in the same boat as you, haha...when it's the end of the semester, whether you're an undergrad or grad student...fuck it all.

So is anyone taking classes over the summer? I remember WAIF is but thats it.

I was going to be taking precalculus this summer (needed to take the Psych Statistics class, which in turn lets me take the Research Methods Class, which lets me take some other Psy classes) but given that I just spent $320 on my car, and will probably be spending at least another $100, if not more, I think I'll be dropping it and getting my money back.

I'm looking forward to the fall though, got some good shit picked out :kickass:

I feel stagnant because I'm not studying anything or taking classes. I do think I would like to take dance classes because I can't really dance.

I think i'll be taking Advanced Engineering Mathematics (if i pass the finals in calculus 3) and an English class.
