The School/Uni Thread

Some buddies and I are taking a trip up to Northern Illinois University and to Illinois State University here soon. We might also check out University of Illinois at Chicago. Should be fun times.

I enjoy Lovecraft's work; but as far as conceptual, often horrifying and intriguingly weird short stories go, no one can beat Borges.
I agree, I love Borges.

So I spent my first three days at uni. I'm fucking tired. They were talking about anatomy and shit and then I went to like five various pubs in the crampus and ended up in a jazz bar in my district. That's like 12 beers and waking up next morning. This life will be hard. There are like zero hot girls im my class and most of the guys are Vietnamese or czech nerds. This guy from Thaiwan was looking for drugs and I understood only like one third of his sentences but he was saying something about some black guy dealing pot.
There are Vietnamese people in Prague?

lol, didn't roll lucky with that major huh.

try looking for psychology classes, it's pretty interesting and there's usually plenty of chicks in them.

I fucking hate psychology classes and most of the people at my high school who were interested in psychology were the fucking worst. If there's something I'm allergic to then it's a fucking dull chick talking about fucking psychology. I got really tired of that fucking shit the last two years at high school. I graduated high school with B from psychology yet I wouldn't want to talk to those chicks. I really hope that I will never be down to their level, so I'd just much rather study flowers with asian chicks.

Also, I'm too cool to not be lucky so I will just have to make it a better place there. My presence itself makes that uni a better place. When I walk there through the campus: everything watches. I'm really cool. The second day there I had to avoid buses because I thought they might crash in my presence, hurting all the people inside.

I won't be drinking this weekend so I have more energy for the second week.

So I tentatively figured out my schedule for next semester, and I register in a couple weeks. Probably going to take:

Elementary German I (Ger 113)
College Algebra (Math 124)
Honors Rhetoric (Hon 100)
Perception (Psy 405)
Critical Thinking(Phil 102)

Besides that, my first semester at UNLV is going pretty damn well. Got As on all my midterms as well so :kickass:

Cool! I'm really looking forward to taking German. The teacher is a great one as well. Next year I'll be taking Research Methods & Statistics for Psychology but that will be very different from your Research Methods class.

Potential schedule, assuming there are no conflicts:

MTH 120- Discrete Mathematics
MTH 122- Calculus II
PHL 102- Logic
PHL 202- Philosophy Proseminar
PHL 403- Seminar in Philosophy (don't know the topic yet)
COM 103- Whatever the gen. ed requirement for speech is called

yeah I've really enjoyed learning German. It's a pretty interesting language. My professor is from Dusseldorf, so half of the class time is spent asking her ridiculous questions about Germany and its culture (today, somebody wanted to know how you say "mozarella sticks" in german haha)

and yes. your research methods class will be markedly different...mostly because mine won't involve statistics

Ah, the professor I'm planning on taking it with is of hispanic origin (last name Villanueva), but I've heard him talk in Austrian and German accents before and its great. That class sounds really fun though.

And actually, I combined the two classes, on is Research Methods in Psych, the other is Statistics for Psych.
