The School/Uni Thread

Sweet. Maybe there will be more jumpers at Cal Poly Pomona next. Perhaps a brutal serial killing at UCI, or something else sinister somewhere else.

Seriously though, that sucks.

Right now I'm trying to void out my language requirement. Although I enjoy trying to learn Russian, I completed two years of ASL six years ago, and was promised by the staff of both schools (transferred from and too) that it would complete my requirement for my degree. Of course there are now problems, but if this got cleared up then I could graduate a full year earlier.

Registered for classes a week or so ago, still have to register for a class at the community college though.

I might start as a research assistant next semester too, in the Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience Lab.

Oh, wow. I only read a little bit about Japanese mechanics, and from what I read, it doesn't look like it would take two semesters to progress beyond the basics.

I think part of it is because our class moves really slowly too. I think many of them just didnt know what they were getting into, and the professor had to slow down some.

Also, having read ahead some in the book, it seems more like basic conversation rather than just basic grammar, vocab., etc.

That must really suck. I plan on studying multiple languages in college, and I want the courses to be intensive.

I already learned a bunch of Chinese characters, and even with stroke order I was discouraged only because phonetic alphabets are way better for developing literacy.

FUCKING CSU BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVED ANOTHER TUITION INCREASE

^Yeah, this year alone in Cali (not sure about the rest of the nation) they upped the tuition by 32%. starting 2011, they are more than likely upping it another 5%-10%.

I'm stacking my classes this quarter and hoping I will have enough money from loans to live out the ten weeks. (Theoretically) I will be done with my next degree by the end of winter quarter. That makes four degrees... fucking hell I am poor.
