Finished my new employee booklet and they tested me on it (just random things from it.) My brain shat itself instantly and I eventually got it. I knew the stuff but couldn't put it in words, even had the general forman throw the book at me at first. But I got it. I'm kinda mad at myself I didnt get it right off the bat but he said I did good. I'll be getting the bigger book here soon and I'll work up to an apprentice hopefully within a few months.
I'm so fucking nervous you guys my adrenaline is pumping hard, but now my personal incentive for this job skyrocketed to 130%.

Plus, later in on life when you move away from the logging industry you can transition into the BDSM industry.

Bow lines and hitches are pretty basic and don't take much to master, they are used in pretty much every industry that uses rope, (including the BDSM industry according to JImmy). Through all my years driving trucks, cutting timber and living in the bush those two, the truckies hitch and the occasional reef knot have seen me through most situations.

Thats understandable.
Ive seen the bowline used more to lever up equipment from the ground so that they have it while climbing the trees, I think.
So far, the most complicated knot Ive looked at is the Running Bowline. So many steps go into it, but its more or less just tightening it into form than anything.

The hardest knot I had to learn was when I was working party hire and putting up marquees the size of circus tents. It was a simply half hitch but it had to be done at the top of the poles from ground level. Getting the hitch was easy, running it up the pole and only tightening it at the very top was an art form.

The first ten feet aren't bad 
But yeah it's a shit of the thing to do and something many a roper has humiliated himself with by suggesting he could do it only to fuck it up in front of other people. I only know a few guys who mastered it, I wasn't one of them. If I could help it I'd be busy doing something else when it came time to tie the roof down.

My girlfriend gave me The Wisdom of Avalon oracle card deck and I've managed to make something of it I guess. I do have quite a wise and wizardly personality so it was nice to have 'The Novice' card pop out a couple of times and remind me I'm only at the beginning of my wizard career. I expect there'll be a photoshoot in a cloak with my novelty stovepipe hat at some point.
