The Top 5 List Thread

i don't think so. just searched wong trilogy and it's always the three i mentioned, plus 2046 was always considered a loose sequel to in the mood for love more than anything else. most of wong's stuff is pretty tonally and thematically similar though so no doubt you could make all kinds of good trilogies out of his stuff.
Apparently there is a fourth film to be added to the already 'informal' trilogy called 'Blossoms' of which shooting was supposed to start this year. So I think technically it won't be a trilogy for long.

@no country for old wainds do you know if Buzzard is part of Potrykus' planned "Y2K trilogy" along with Relaxer? Still haven't seen it so I don't know when it's set, but apparently he's writing his new film which will be part of this trilogy, or something. Did that make any sense? I'm drunk, just finished watching The Alchemist Cookbook which was fucking amazing and some unexpected shit!

ooo i'm not actually aware he's making a y2k trilogy i don't think, but buzzard is part of a different trilogy, his 'animal' trilogy which also contains ape and coyote (neither of which i've seen).

hell yeah, the alchemist cookbook rules! i was playing 'don't starve' a lot at the time i saw it and it reminded me of that so much lmao

Oh okay so that must mean Relaxer is the first in his planned trilogy. Right at the start of this interview he says it's set in 1999 because it's part of the Y2K trilogy.

Cortez eating the catfood was so fucking funny. Most seem to say Buzzard is his best (you included?) so I'm watching that next very soon. This director rules.

What's everybody's top 5 Swedish black metal albums/EPs/demos/whatever?

I feel like I don't know much about that scene at all.

Top 5 would be mostly classics...
Dawn - Nær sólen gar niþer for evogher
Sacramentum - Far Away from the Sun
Arckanum - ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ (much prefer this to their older stuff)
Vinterland - Welcome My Last Chapter
Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane

I don't really count Necrophobic - The Nocturnal Silence as BM but it has obvious elements and is an absolute pinnacle of that scene too.

List making motherfucker today. Top 5 current favorite female vocalists based on recent listening habits:

1. Lee Douglas (Anathema)
2. Ann-Mari Edvardsen (The 3rd and the Mortal)

4. Monika Edvardsen (Atrox)
5. Sara (Messa)

Top 5 late-career masterpieces by veteran bands:

1. Celtic Frost - Monotheist
2. Iron Maiden - Brave New World
3. Godflesh - Post Self
4. Rush - Clockwork Angels

i'll throw another 5 gooduns in there that weren't mentioned yet:
nastrond - toteslaut
cromlech - and darkness fell
sigrblot - blodsband (blood religion manifest)*
vargavinter - frostfodd
every nifelheim album

sacramentum and vinterland are my top 2 though, with probably storm of the light's bane in third these days. i'm irrationally hyped for the new sacramentum album ever since they claimed it's gonna be their sequel to FAFTS.
