The Top 5 List Thread

I've seen this album mentioned several times and I'm only now realizing this is a different band than that boring black metal band 1349. Naming your band after a year is stupid.

Maybe I'll check it out now though, your description sounds intriguing.

You're hard to predict for, but it's worth a listen. Has a Bolt Thrower vibe at times too.

Top 5 metal releases of November 2021:
  1. Bestial Invasion - The Divine Comedy: Inferno
    a3253058678_10.jpg
Ukrainian techprog thrash with some power metal vibes too.

  2. Haalbuaer - Mortal Ones Scream in Horror
    a1330349916_10.jpg
Norwegian death metal FFO Infester, Undergang etc.

  3. Tyrannic - Mortuus Decadence
    a0735185944_10.jpg
Black/thrash/doom metal from Sydney. So many good riffs.

  4. Archgoat - Worship the Eternal Darkness
    a2895302578_10.jpg
    Archgoat doing what Archgoat does.

  5. Vile Apparition / Miscreance - split
    a0636165544_10.jpg
Killer split, Vile Apparition play death metal leaning towards brutal and Miscreance play fucking awesome tech thrash leaning towards Atheist style tech death.
Top 5 non-metal releases of November 2021:
  1. Richard Dawson & Circle - Henki
    a0212321310_10.jpg
Mr. Dawson dipped heavily into some amazingly cerebral art/prog rock here, even spacey at times. Been a great year for art and prog rock, the new Ciccada album, Trettioåriga kriget, Tusmørke, Needlepoint etc.

  2. NRBQ - Dragnet
    81xWUflF4rL._SL1200_.jpg
NRBQ snuck back in and dropped a really cool, understated, catchy album.

  3. ABBA - Voyage
    Abba-Voyage.jpeg
Still growing on me, it's like half instant appeal tracks and half slow burners. But it's like they never left.

  4. Parcels - Day / Night
    a1451141558_10.jpg
I think I still prefer their 2018 debut because it was heavy on the disco vibes, but this is no slouch. Awesome boogie, soft rock, yacht rock, disco mixture. Very lush, beautifully produced.

  5. Alien Nosejob - Paint It Clear
    a3348161694_10.jpg
After a brief detour into hardcore punk, Alien Nosejob dives back into synth punk.

I enjoy your top 5 lists @CiG! I am surprised Adele's new album didn't make your top 5 for November though!

I'm actually missing a lot of albums by the bigger pop artists on my monthly lists, because I often find they take much more time investment to get into. Especially if they contain infectious singles, because it becomes a thing where if I feel like listening to the artist I just listen to the singles I like over and over.

I don't think I included Lana Del Rey's Chemtrails Over the Country Club either even though I must've listened to the title track at least 40 times. That stuff usually goes unmentioned until I get around to doing a list for the whole year.

Can't beat a good catchy song. Rock 'n' Roll is another track of theirs I like more than Overkill.

Damage Case is a top 5 Motorhead for me overall as well. But I have such connection with the Overkill lyrics and the latter part of the song that it's impossible for me not to put it on top of the album.
