The Whining and Bitching Thread

In Maryland we just get a couple mini summers in the middle of winter. I love it. Warm weather, the air smells like fall air, and no bugs!

The way the climate is changing seems to mean that the UK, at least the south anyway, just slowly flips between Spring and Autumn, so it's hotter and wetter on average. Fuck both of those things.

Hah. Immediately after posting that I saw this.

I'm sure The Independent used to be a real newspaper.

it's about the best paper we have tbh, but i don't read any of them except the guardian for the sport. the worst ones for fake weather predictions are the express and mail, they actually got exposed as acquiring their information from a completely bogus weather forecaster not long ago. it's a pretty funny read.

i don't think there's much of a pattern to british weather over the past few years, despite what some people say. we had the worst winter in living memory three or four years ago, went down to -14 where i live at one point and there was ice on the ground for months. we also had the hottest heatwave on record in many places last year. this winter has been the warmest/windiest/wettest i've ever seen, granted, almost summer temperatures at times let alone autumn, although it's suddenly going cold now (just in time for my central heating to break, yay) so maybe it's gonna even out. i do think we get a little less snow nowadays and a little less sun in the summer compared to 20 years ago, but i might just be remembering my childhood wrong, and it just feels like there's been too many ridiculous anomalies over the past decade to make much sense out of any of it.

Yeah, there are random weeks during what's supposedly winter that resemble autumn by normal standards. It isn't a constant thing, but it equals about a month in total. I grew up in the Northeast, so I have context.

California definitely has its drawbacks, but we have amazing beer and food, and some of the greatest National Parks are within driving distance. Now if the cost of living would go down that'd be greaaaat

Florida and Cali are both vastly overrated places based on a few strips of beach, but I'll take desert over swamp any day.

I would much rather live in the desert part of the country than live here. I decided years ago that I will move to a place like that if I leave this state. It probably won't be for some time.

Yeah Cali has some great non Beach areas if you get into the mountains. I don't know if I'll ever get back out west but there are definitely days I miss it.

To continue on the weather whining my flight today was delayed because of too much snow, they even threatened with landing in Denmark instead. I fucking hate flying, and people here in Sweden complains about the trains...

I really hit it off with this girl at a bar last night and I stupidly didn't get her number because I assumed this one guy hanging out with her was her boyfriend.

At least it was a really good conversation, though.

Just bought a pool and after much sweating and groaning and setting it up, it's now pouring rain. /firstworldproblems

I saw a commercial for an above-ground pool, it was 30 seconds long. Because that's the maximum amount of time you can picture yourself having fun in an above-ground pool. If it was 31 seconds, the actor would say "The water is only up to here? What do I do now? Throw the ball back to Jimmy? Or put some goggles on and look at his feet?"

I worked at a store that sold them for 6 years. Waste of money IMO. You're better off getting an in ground because the resale is better. However, they are way more expensive.
