To you, what defines "Metal"

Keith! said:
Well you did say you considered them rock, and rock is not metal...

Simply because I consider something does not make it so, now does it?

Opinions don't change things.

Metal is a type of music that typically uses drop tuning, high gain amps, & growls & roars as vocals. At least in my opinion, but by definition for me it's music that makes you angry or angrier when you listen to it.

Heavy Metal was not invented until Judas Priest released an album called "British Steel" in about 1977 long after Sabbath were known, British Steel is the first true Metal album.................All before was Blues and Rock and that is wot Sabbath are a Rock band and a bit bluesy, Heavy as hell too.......but more indie than Metal in hindsight.
but hey dont get upset over it wots a little genre mean anyway. Its the music at the end of the day init. :headbang:

Yeah man... I like how you go to all the trouble of creating a false webpage and putting up made up info about Judas Priest album release dates? to make me look wrong, Thats an over the top thing to do just to try and be right about something!!..... I suppose if I said Sabbath where like a Blues Negro minstrel band... then you would go to the trouble of creating a webpage that said Sabbath were Indie.... Thats really sick!! so come on then create your new "fake Sabbath page" with Statistics............ if it makes you happy.

LOL @ allmusic.com being a "false web page". you are a bonified moron.

All I am saying is that Sabbath are a bit Negro...thats all !! ......a little bit Bluesy........ a bit twelve bar, which coming from the time they did ( the early 70s) isnt so strange after all. You can easily here the American deep south in Iommis playing style. Obviously he has been influenced by those old Blues boys like "Washboard Sam" and maybe "Blind Willy" ?... who both toured incidently in Britain in the late 60s, "exactly the same time" as Mr Iommi would have been learning to play the guitar. My second argument is this....... Where are Sabbath from ? Yes ! youve guessed it "The Black Country" the nickname of Englands city of Birmingham. And may I also point out the obvious here ...the word....."Black" ...as in "Black Sabbath". Look if some of you guys cant handle the Negroness of Sabbath then thats a bit sad.... I aint saying geezer, Bill, ozzy and Toni are ( Black )... but cmon, they aint that white either. :headbang:

completely disregarding this illogical, and ridiculous rant youre on about (black sabbath was a horror film from the 60s in which geezer was a big fan and coined the band name from), the points you are trying to illustrate are NOT "all you are saying". youre now completely avoiding the misinformation and retardation you have been saying about priest for the last 4 posts or so. follow these steps very carefully from this point on:

1. remove head from ass
2. know your facts
3. then talk

its that simple.
