TOP 10 WORST BLACK METAL RECORDS OF ALL TIME

I would definitely nominate

Mayhem - Pure Fucking Armaggedon and Emperor - Wrath of the Tyrant

...of course WOTT is awesome, but the production is disgusting... also the production on In the Nightside Eclipse makes it hard to listen to...

I think Hellhammer once was quoted saying that most Black Metal bands quite often use terrible production on their recordings, to hide the fact that they simply cannot play their instruments properly.

Says it all about "kvlt" to me.

It sounds awful and is played by people who are awful at playing their instruments = pure shit. I have never had any idea why people think this genre is good music and no-one has ever given a good argument for this (at least to me).

Sounds like a cross between velcro being ripped apart, a cat getting strangled and someone banging away on an old dustbin on speed.

Fan-fucking-tastic.

Yeah.. and you definitely don't know what you're talking about.. Listen to Dissection, Emperor, Immortal etc and say they cannot play their instruments.. Blackmetal is ment to sound shitty and raw, not overproduced like most of the metal today. The simple production gets the right "feeling" to the music! I do understand people who doesn't like it cause it's an extreme kind of music. I've listen to metal for 20 years and it took me long time to like the primitive kind of BM. And of course not every BM band are good (specially a few bands from France/Germany/USA..

you took the words right out of my mouth. most the people posting here seem to be the ones who havent heard much, or dont like much black metal to begin with. odd.

Well pointed out...

... I don't find it odd though - 90% of people in this forum have no appreciation for Black Metal, but think they know something about it just because Akerdfeldt
has said the words "black metal" before.

I guess all Opeth fans are instant musicologists right?

I find it ironic: Opeth's music overall is not the norm, yet so many of Opeth's fans seem to have problems listening to Black Metal.

You folks lack balls to venture into more extreme territory! Get some fucking Clandestine Blaze and MGŁA up ya, emo-loving wimps!

eheh. Its not like i dont listen to extreme metal or never have done. I was fed from the tit of grindcore and early death metal when i was a lad. I still like listening to it now and again.

At least with those bands you didnt have to "guess" what they were trying to play and none of that horrid ear-splitting screeching either.

and to use the term "organic" to describe any kind of music always makes me LOL. What a crock of shit.

I remember Mr Åkerfeldt was the highest bidder on the first Immortal vinyl on ebay a while ago and i have also read that Per buys every Darkthrone album the same day it's released...
