top 5 non-metal albums of all time

As much as Skynyrd irritates me, and especially 'Freebird' (not as much as 'Whats Your Name' but it's up there), let it never be said that Allen Collins was not super duper bad on that song. Bad meaning hip, great, far out, shredding, whatever.

Soundgarden -superunknown.
The Sisters of Mercy -first and last and always.
Collective Soul -s/t
Stone Temple Pilots -core
Alice In Chains -dirt or s/t

others

A Perfect Circle -mer de noms
Ministry -the land of rape & honey, the mind is a terrible thing to taste(if this even counts)
Led Zeppelin -4
The Clash -london calling

I know am missing some.

Allman Brothers Band - Eat A Peach

Great album. Reminds me old The Band was great.

Candlebox is certainly good for the type of stuff they are. They're a little too blahhhh for me for the most part but they had good and charismatic vocals & vocal melodies, and they did solo.

It's funny to go on YouTube videos of bands such as Candlebox and see people complaining about how that's the real rock 'n roll and this Nickelback needs to get off the air. I guess you can't complain about small favors..

a comment on an Our Lady Peace video (they're more horrible than I remember):

Because musicians these days are looking to impress 12 year old girls and boys who are gangster-wannabes.

Music used to be real... So, that's why I'm stuck in the 90s :D

i dont venture outside of metal too often, but Swans - Great Annihilator and Dead Can Dance - Aion would be in there. maybe Enya

Within the Realm of a Dying Sun is my favorite Dead Can Dance, and would probably appear in my list if it was for more than 5 albums.

The Great Annihilator used to be my favorite Swans album, but now I enjoy White Light from the Mouth of Infinity more. Have you heard Love of Life? I think it tends to be overlooked somewhat in favor of those two.

ive got them all. i actually prefer LoL to WLFtMoI. gira and jarboe's side band, World of SKin released an album on par with the finest Swans, called Ten Songs From Another World. a grand album it is.

I agree with you about that album. I wish that I owned it. I'll make a note to buy it ASAP. There's also two albums that they released as Skin during the 1980's that are a similar musical style, though most (but not all) of the songs appear on the bonus disc for the reissue of Children of God. I wish that I was able to find them.

ive got the Children of God reissue. i actually prefer the WoS CD. also, i recently ordered Gira's solo album Drainland.

ive heard some Angels of Light, and the only one that did anything for me was the debut.

I like Drainland. You'll probably like it if you like their 90's albums. It's the most similar to Soundtracks for the Blind for sure.

Not sure about a top 5 but it would be hard for me to not include these four:

I also like these a lot too.

I've mentioned this before, but I am obsessed with this album right now. It's fringe Metalcore, but Every Time I Die's The Big Dirty is one of my favorite albums of all time... and I can't mention this in the "top 5 metal albums of all time" thread.
I know that it is probably ban-worthy to even mention this band, but this album is fantastic from top to bottom... lyrics, music, vocals, everything on this album is absolutely exceptional, I don't care what my fellows in the metal community think about them.
