Varg Vikernes might have commited suicide yesterday

I suspect it'll be fairly evenly split down the middle. There'll be the culter-than-thou naysayers, the overbearing praisers, and the indifferent fence-sitters, and everyone will probably argue about it for the next 15 years.
I agree with everything you wrote, save the last part. The overbearing praisers will likely give up the fight, shortly after the newness wears off and they find that the CD has begun to collect dust in their collection, thereby ending any hope of a longstanding debate. As I said, I fully expect this to suck.

Samples... kind of meh.. but they are samples.

okay why does this first song sound like modern "de mysteriis"-derived black metal? this is more like watain than hvis lyset tar oss

preliminary judgement: lovin' it

I don't know.. the samples are really not impressive but neither were the Master's Hammer samples, and as bizarre as that album turned out to be I really enjoy it. So... we'll see.

Sounds like a pick hitting metal or something - he's doing the Venom thing wrong.

How are you supposed to tell how the album is from those super short samples?

EDIT: it sounds a lot like that was influenced by Burzum.

Listening to The White God right now. Sounds inviting so far, very likely top ten material given the shitty year so far and the rather empty release schedule (imho).
A few disturbing elements but no trace of a turn-off, the innate superiority is still plain to hear.

[EDIT] Further down into the album, this will go on repeat for some time, no doubt!
