I don't smoke, and I don't like having smoke in my face, but that's a matter of people being dicks, not people being smokers. As far as just smoking itself goes, allow me to (as usual) quote Bill Hicks:

"By the way, I smoke. If anyone has a problem with this, I suggest you, I dunno, take a look around at the world in which we live and shut your fucking mouth."

I smoke something with nicotine almost daily. I want to give it up completely and I'm not really dependent so I have started rolling my own cigarettes, which sucks and sometimes I don't smoke at all for days. It works in mild cases.

I used to smoke cigarettes throughout high school. Then I quit a few months afterwards since my fingers and teeth were yellow. I also noticed my skin felt cleaner.
I didn't really need to use patches or anything, I just stopped (I don't want to say cold turkey since that would make me sounds like an addict).
Then I went to cigars. I still have a cigar every now and then.

But nothing compares to the hookah. I could smoke that all day long. It's so relaxing.

Are cigars bad for you, though? You don't inhale them, you only taste them. I'm sure your breath stinks and stuff, but I don't think they would damage you internally, would they?

I've recently discovered the pipe is a good substitute for cigs, and it smells a lot better too.

I'll take a few drags of a cigar if someone's got one goin'... weed is the same, but I've never smoked a cigarette.

I used to play a lot of poker and I'd always have a cigar while playing... it kept me really calm oddly enough. Then I realized how fucking stupid it was to rely on something to improve my game.

you can still get mouth or throat cancer from cigars.... if you smoke them as often as a military general.

Nicotine addiction has tormented several of my older relatives for years, and didn't exactly help my grandmother when she was lying in the hospital, in what would become her deathbed. Needless to say, I don't approve.

There's actually a smoking ban in Louisville that has arranged things so that basically, if you're not a bar, people can't smoke in your establishment. A lot of people around here are smokers though, and thus the ban is sometimes not enforced.

well i know there were some occasions where you would be drinking and ended up "smoking" some part of the male anatomy that you normally wouldn't do when not drinking.

Cigars can cause gum cancer, but that's mostly for chain smokers.

You're talking about shitty cigars. I don't smoke those anymore. The good ones are wonderful. They have a very nice aroma.
Cheaper pipe tobacco does taste and smell better than cheap cigars, but good cigars smell better than the higher end pipe tobaccos.

There's also the ban in New York. It's been in effect for almost 4 years.

You're not supposed to inhale cigar or pipe smoke, but I'm sure that you'll inevitably breathe in some of your own second hand smoke while you're at it. Soooo....

I smoke...ALOT (As some members of the forum may have seen my chainsmoking habit), and I have since i was 10 and probably always will...

I try quitting, and I manage to quit for a little bit, then I see someone smoke and it triggers something in my brain that instantly says "hey, can i get one of those?", in which I start smoking again. Or I end up getting really stressed out at work and start smoking again. Tis neverending...

My grandma is now approaching 95, and has been smoking forms of tobacco, from what she says, since she was 10. She currently smokes 2 packs of Benson and Hedges a day. My aunt also does smoke, she's about 58 now, and she also has been smoking since around 10 or 11. Both of them are suprisingly fucking healthy at this point... It all depends on who you are I guess.

^ hmm taht is interesting about your grandma that she is 95 and has no probelms since she was 10 years old from smoking, and some people have problems from smoking in much less time.

but what about second hand smoke nobody has said anything about it, how bad is it for you?
