What effect does opeth use for the violin part in The apostile in triumph?

I know for a fact that it isnt an ebow, because they said they didnt buy an ebow until the still life album. what i do know is that they use a lil delay on it, and that yngwie malmsteen too uses the effect sometimes, but im too lazy to look it up :)

he said in a thread from like years ago that he learned this technique by watching some obscure yngwie malmsteen video from the 80s
 
And it can't be an Ebow, seen as an Ebow can only be used for one string at a time, and in this part, 3 strings are played (the way I tabbed it atleast). I think it are volume swells indeed, probably with some kind of delay.
