What is your biggest musical guilty pleasure?

America...remember them? But I don't feel guilty about it because they are fucking good...erm...

:headbang:

Actually, not because of the band, but because of a memory involving them.

University of Rhode Island, 1979. America played along with Steve Forbert touring for his "Jackrabbit Slim" album. Got wasted and went to sit on the floor of the gymnasium and watch the show along with my girlfriend (now wife). No sooner after sitting down, we both got horny. We never made it through Steve Forbert because we had to go back to my dorm room and have sex.

Great sex it was, and wet too. Right afterwards I said: "Damn I'm soaked. I need a towel". Little did I know that we were so loud in the act, that my suite mates and various friends amounting to a dozen people just listened to us. We were done in time get back to see the last America song "A Horse With No Name". When I came back after the show, everybody there started the ""Damn I'm soaked. I need a towel" chant, and it lasted for weeks.

Great memory.

Nope. And I'm glad I didn't. If I liked a band in the past, there must've been a good reason for it, and if I don't listen to it now, then it doesn't really appeal to me anymore. But I'm still not ashamed of the fact that I listened to that band.

My BIGGEST guilty pleasure?......... Death Cab for Cutie :( :( :( I know, I know. I get a lot of shit when I tell people that I listen to them, but hey, they have some good songs, IMO. Coldplay too.

you may like With Honor's first 3 releases (by that i mean their first album 'Heart Means Everything, their self-titled EP, and Thier split with a band called the distance)...

dunno if youd like their new album though...it's ok...but nothing compared to the first album and that split.

"Rethink, Return" and "Pipe Dream" are awesome tracks.

I have plenty of bands for that style.

I'm big into hardcore myself.

but i have no guilty pleasures in music....as someone said...i like it, i listen to it...

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm not massively into hardcore myself, I count Comeback Kid and Champion as hardcore punk because it's still not too raw and aggresive. I tried listening to heavier stuff like Bane, and i was just like "...no, sadly i'm not getting into this". Stuff around the Rise Against type area or a bit heavier i really like.

(some) techno/dance music

and Amy Lee's voice.

Amiee Lee is porn. And she has a stunningly beautifuul voice. I was get the impression that if bands like that Evanessence, Slipknot, Linkin Park (who produce sort of...pop amalagams of the music that influences them) were given enough money and help and not controlled by over baring studios that they could produce really good music.

apparently linkin park is picking their own producer for their next album....it will probably be jay-z

and slipknot has the potential. Jordison is a good drummer, despite complaints from others. and the guitarists are actually quite good (mostly, when theyre not playing in slipknot they seem better)...and while corey may be a dumbass...he does have some shining moments. so get rid of all the useless members, and substitute a keyboardist for them, and they could release some quality material if they wanted to...

but theyd realize they might not make as much money off of it.

Who else do you like?
My favorite composers at the moment are...

Johann Sebastian Bach
Richard Wagner
Johannes Brahms
Anton Dvorak
and of course... Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart :)

Me?
Oh my favourite composer if I have to select one is Mahler. His music is progressive like progressive rock - both hard'n'heavy and soft'n'sweet! Many Opeth fans would love his music!

Then apart from him... lots of composers... Prokofiev, Bruckner, Messiaen, Richard Strauss (not the waltz dude), Mozart (again), Bach, Vivaldi, Schubert, Poulenc, Rachmaninoff, Haydn, etc...

:err: those are all great....I think alot fo peope here would probably like them.

I really don't feel ashamed in any music I listen to either, but some music that "metalheads" would make fun of me for:

Gwen Stefani-Love Angel Music Baby is a great album, damnit!
No Doubt
HIM
Kelly Clarkson
I like a lot of Rap and Hip Hop
Destiny's Child and Beyonce solo stuff
Fall Out Boy - Ok, I am ashamed of this one! haha! I think they're great song writers for the kind of music they write for, plus the singer has a good voice.
I like one song by Killswitch Engage
I like a couple songs by Coheed and Cambria..not too many.
Justin Timberlake - Don't lie and say you never wanted to dance to "Rock Your Body"!

I also listen to Coldplay, Muse, Garbage ETC but don't consider them a guilty pleasure.

stevie ray vaughan is a genius...no shame there :kickass:

I still can't get over the fact that I found Dimmu Borgir's remake of Stormblast tolerable.
