American Metal is bad because it's so overated, they started and are the leading producers of Gay Metal(Nu Metal) and they copy the ideas of European bands and then take credit for them.

Basically America produces Gay Metal and cheap and tacky copies of good Metal.

Swedish Metal is THE most overrated... Nu-metal shouldn't even be counted... because we're talking about real metal here you stupid ass!

Brutal Death Metal is basically an American creation...did they steal that from some shitty Swedish or German band too?

Was the Florida Death Metal explosion in the late 80's/early 90's non-influential to Europe?

Well, I can't decide on my favorite metal-producing country, so I'll list 4.
1. Sweden: Vintersorg, Opeth, Dark Funeral, etc.
2. Norway: Borknagar, Dimmu Borgir, Limbonic Art, Dark Throne, Myrkskog
3. Finland: Amorphis, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Obscurant
4. US: Seven Witches, Death, Obituary, Anathema, Dream Theater, Nevermore

I would say the US has a handful of great bands from every metal sub-genre....however, I would also agree with what someone said earlier that European countries seem to have the best of the best from one or two genres. Still, when it comes to highly original, provocative bands, I would say the US has the lead.

Best Metal? USA, followed by Canada, and scattered bands throughout Europe and South America.

Lots of countries have great bands, but overall the US wins for the most great metal bands.

Death, brutal death: USA by a mile. Does DEVOURMENT, DISGORGE, SUFFOCATION, BRODEQUIN, DEATH, LIVIDITY, MALIGNANCY, SECT OF EXECRATION, CINERARY, NILE, HATE ETERNAL, DEEDS OF FLESH ring any bell? Germany has the best death metal? Oh please... maybe Necrophagist, but even he is Turkish. If USA has any match in Europe, it would be bands like Soils Of Fate in Sweden, Pyaemia and Disavowed in Holland, or maybe Sanatorium and Synthetically Revived in Slovakia. (Canada doesn't need to be ashamed either: Cryptopsy, Kataklysm, Martyr, Quo Vadis, Gorguts, etc.)

Melodic death: I don't know, I don't listen to that. But Opeth are a class act, so probably Sweden. Else I agree with whoever said Sweden was overrated. I live there and I see what kind of BS metal many of the metal fans listen to. But the US has nu-"metal" so I assume assholeness exists everywhere.

Black metal: Norway, because of bands like Satyricon, Limbonic Art, Pecattum, perhaps even Winds, Ulver, Arcturus etc. Even other weird metal I like (The 3rd And The mortal, Green Carnation) come from Norway.

Doom metal: The UK of course, but the Czech Republic has some of the most original bands I have come across so I would probably vote for them. (Dissolving Of Prodigy, Silent Stream Of Godless Elegy, Forgotten Silence, Endless, and many more).

Heavy/speed/power "metal" shit: probably Germany, hahaha.

AMERICA (as a continent) makes the best DEATH METAL - GRIND - GORE... by far... and this is something most of us agree with

Sweeden... the best "melodic metal"... things such as: THERION, OPETH, DARK TRANQUILITY.... etc...

Yeah, they get better with every CD. The latest tour CD with 3 new tracks was very brutal. I sometimes chat with Martin Belobrad (the singer and "boss" of the band) as I come from the same country. I like his music distro a lot too, lotsa good Cd's You don't find in normal stores.
