And the Iraqi government, if they don't want us to leave, let you remember that they are simply a puppet of the US, and don't represent the sentiment of that area of the world.

If we leave now, it's very likely that we will see unchecked genocide. We are holding this back right now with our policing forces. It is absolutely essential that when we leave, we have something to take our place, or the floodgates will be open to a massive increase in sectarian violence. Think about it like a house of cards, only it's made of protection. If you take out the bottom row of cards, the whole structure crumbles. I highly doubt that anyone really wants to see more of our soldiers die and more of our money be thrown out the window, but we are in far too deep to just say fuck it. And frankly, I would rather have a president who recognizes that the war was a bad idea than one who thinks we did the right thing, because the latter is much more likely to remain idle and not actively seek ways for us to get out.

Considering that a civil war is, or may be occuring soon, is taking form as we speak, wouldent that be the opposite of what a genocide is? A genocide involves one side killings a mass amount of another side without that side being killed having any real significant defensive. Zeph is right when he says the current goverment installed their is only a puppet that the U.S goverment is using to force our western poltical agenda onto them. I do see what we are gaining by staying their and all I see is us interfering on a important stage in the devlopment in Iraq. Plus, us staying is purely aiding only the massive corperations that are making money off this sitauation.

There is more than one internal conflict going on in an around Iraq, Alter. And everybody knows that the Iraqi government would not exist without US approval, but that does not mean that it exists without dissent to its master.

The situation in there is tough, even if the fighting groups agree to split into separate countries some will get more resources than others. They would've been closer to peace if we never went there.

A complete pull out would be bad, but as Dodens said nobody is suggesting that. That is purely a strawman. What we need is a leader who wants to lead us out ASAP rather than escalating or staying there for "one hundred years"

Exactamundo. Obama is not saying that he wants us out immediately, he wants us out as soon as possible, which means that as soon as we can leave and not have the whole works shit itself we should leave. I think that everyone can agree here that we don't need to be patrolling the streets of Baghdad for 100 years.

I personally think that we need to set up a military base there and then leave, but keep soldiers stationed at said base to be able to respond to trouble and use it as a preventative staging area for whatever we need to do in the future. If we have a base right next door, people aren't going to be pulling as much stupid shit in the area. We won't need to be doing the actual patrols of Iraqi streets soon. Once the Iraqi government has the situation under control, we should keep a relatively small presence in the area to back them up if shit hits the fan in Iraq or where ever else we "need" to be.

That, my friends, is called a compromise. It's what the two party system in America is supposed to result in. The nation was built on compromises and we've forgotten how to use them, which results in the severe fraction along party lines in this country. Are certain issues "You can't have it both ways" situations? Yes. Is this one of them? No.

So you want it to be 'North Korea Version 2.0'?

I suppose a base in Afghanistan would be just as good on our side of the deal, but it would help the Iraqi government hold onto the power. We have bases in Japan and Germany still. I want it to be more like that and less like North Korea. That won't happen immediately, but it will probably happen eventually.

My Fellow Americans:
As your future President I want to thank my supporters, for your mindless support of me, despite my complete lack of any legislative achievement, my pastor's relations with Louis Farrakhan and Libyan dictator Moamar Quadafi, or my blatantly leftist voting record while I present myself as some sort of bi-partisan agent of change.

I also like how my supporters claim my youthful drug use and criminal behavior somehow qualifies me for the Presidency after 8 years of claiming Bush's youthful drinking disqualifies him . Your hypocrisy is a beacon of hope shining over a sea of political posing.

I would also like to thank the Kennedy's for coming out in support of me.. There's a lot of glamour behind the Kennedy name, even though JFK started the Vietnam War, his brother Robert illegally wiretapped Martin Luther King, Jr. and Teddy killed a female employee with whom he was having an extra marital affair and who was pregnant with his child. And I'm not going anywhere near the cousins, both literally and figuratively. And I'd like to thank Oprah Winfrey for her support. Her love of meaningless empty platitudes will be the force that propels me to the White House.

Americans should vote for me, not because of my lack of experience or achievement, but because I make people feel good. Voting for me causes some white folk to feel relieved of their imagined, racist guilt. I say things that sound meaningful, but don't really mean anything because Americans are tired of things having meaning. If things have meaning, then that means you have to think about them. Americans are tired of thinking. It's time to shut down the brain, and open up the heart. So when you go to vote in the primaries, remember don't think, just do. And do it for me.

Thank You.
Barack Hussein Obama, Jr.

I couldn't read the whole thing. Krigs posts have a habit of decomposing brains. And I have 4 more exams to do.

One of the worst posts and stupidest posts in the history of UM
We all know that you like guns and hate liberals. No need to tell us anymore. You are corrupting the youth. You lower their IQ each time you post. I think you win as the most idiotic poster of UM. And this is being said by me (this says a lot). Now please just stop.
