I don't think Hispanics are less receptive towards metal. Brazil and Mexico both have significant metal scenes, particularly the latter. Asia also has a healthy metal scene, particularly Japan and Korea. I can't think of many African metal bands not from South Africa (only Neblina, Crackdust, and Wrust come to mind).

This is Toke, Neblina's drummer speaking. Hope everybody is rocking!

I'm reading this discution thread and I realize that each head it's her environnement both from family and society.

I must say about my band, Neblina, that we are angolans, from Angola. Not from South Africa.

Should I say that over here in Angola, and in black Africa in general, people are keen to tropical rythms, with a dancing beat, one that you can grab a girl ass, and have her body pressed against you.

It's very dificult, for us rockers in Angola, to have our music played on the mainstream local radios, and we are ostracised even by intitutional local events or musicians from local music styles. They say that we, local rockers, are not representative of national culture, oh, oh, oh!!!

Nevertheless, there are a bunch of youngs rebel souls that hear and promote rock or metal events. In fact, I only know one place all over Angola that plays rock all night, every nights and it's a bar in a theatre company called Elinga Teatro.

Despite that there are around some seven bands who's playing rock or metal, here in Angola there's only one (!) record published in rock style, and that's Neblina album Innocence Falls In Decay from january 2006.

Plenty of tropical groups, or singers cd's, but only one in rock style. Well, you must realize that we, african africans whom lives in Africa, aren't keen to rock standarts. This is a generalization, but it's true. Our society ignores pure and simply rock-pop-metal-indy-country-trash whatever.

Hope that my description of local conditions to play non tropical music have in a way shown our reality.

I was checking some of the sources listed on page 3...
American Renaissance is a huge white supremacist magazine...not to mention as I started reading that first link they were talking about IQ testing as if it was a solid way to state a statistic....it's not at all (there are huge problems with IQ tests, but that is another discussion). Not to mention that "Race and r-K Variables" chart was the most bullshit thing I have ever seen.

The American Daily article cited statistics without using any real numerical data to back up the claims; unless I see the population chart to compare pop sizes, citing percentage's is useless. I have a feeling if they were to even start displaying bell curves they wouldn't even give the p-value for the charts displayed.

The comcast link completely read as secondary literature - something no researcher would completely trust for information (legitimate journals or bust).

That last link is really recent; so recent in fact that I had no idea they found anything like that , however, even with the general flow of the article, it seems that they are not at all correlating social behaviour with genetics, all they are doing is stating a finding that does correlate with what we already know about people; they adapt to their environments.
This means I'm going to be spending some time reading
