I'm not a fan of Blind Guardian but only because I don't prefer that style of metal. The only thing more metal than Lord of the Rings, dungeons and dragons (the two separately, not the actually D&D) would be Vikings.

And I agree that nu-metal shouldn't even be called that because then it is thrown in as a "metal genre". I like to called it "heavy rock". It doesn't have the metal name so people can't confuse it with other metal genres.

Nu-metal to me seems like an extention of rock with an edge(like say hard rock) except nu-metal bands seem straightedge or preppy and polished compared to real hard rock bands. Sometimes with electronics.

Too bad people hate Guardian, but that's OK.

However, they are my favorite band. Initially, I just couldn't get into them, but once you give the songs a chance and listen to them several times, you can easily appreciate their quality. Hansi definitely is one of the greatest Power Metal vocalists.

The choruses are what you have to look for in a Blind Guardian song. No catchy riffs in particular, but its always about the chorus and melody. And of course, being a Lord of the Rings fan myself, I can say that the song-writing is excellent.
