Would you have discovered Symphony X without the Internet?

Yes, because we have a record store near us and he carries loads of obscure stuff, lets anyone listen before buying. Very cool. That's where my wife found Symphony X.

I got my first SyX CD (TDWOT) through my old job. I worked for D'Addario strings and they had sent in the CD to our A&R guy who asked me to listen to it as he wasn't really into metal and wanted to know if it was any good. I was blown away on the first listen. I then used the internet to find out as much about them as I could and also to order their 2 other CD's (Damnation Game and the s/t were the only others at the time). I used the internet to keep me informed of all their other releases as well, except for V, which I also got through work. I was going through the pile of CD's one day and found it. I thought I hit the jackpot! It was great!

well i discovered syx through someone else, but i dont think he would have discovered them if it werent for the net, so indirectly no.. but.. i wouldnt have the same love for them without having heard all their music which i know bands arent big on file sharers..but when used properly theyre a beneficial tool, if it werent for file sharing i would not have discovered soooooooooo much which i then proceeded to buy or am still waiting on saving enough money to buy.. so the net morphed me into what i am today, full on metalhead.

I did... I found them in a local CD shop in the export section before I was ever really big into the net. :-) I loved the cover, and asked the sales guy what they sounded like.... his comment was, "Like Yngwie, but better" ;) ...so after twisting my arm, I bought it.

My first disc from them was The Damnation Game.

Yes, I would have. Like most of the music I enjoy now, I heard it on a radio show that used to be on here in Detroit, before looking on the net.

The dj played the entire V album in full.

Let's see. Before I got into the net, my favorite band was Tool. I discovered Dream Theater on the net, then everything kind of branched from there. So, no, without the internet, I would not have found the greatest band in existance...
