I love the up close mic sound in Dirge. The way you can hear every breath. Sounds close/dry. I think it was a nice touch.
Since we all know that Opeth wouldn't be lacking something major without both types of vocals, I'll skip saying how impossible it'd be to choose between the two.
I think it's hard for me to be happy with many death vocals out there, but like a miracle, Mikael's are literally music to my ears. I couldn't be happier with the way they sound.
So, I'd choose the death vocals in fear of never hearing any better IMO than his.
