fuck no thats not true, everyones used or still uses the 808, from Gilbert (you can hear the 808 on all his classic records, this was how he got "that tone") to Vai and everyone in between, you can go from blues, classic rock to full out shred. but you have to know how to use it, just like with the DOD YJM308.
