I think I played that one or a very similar model some weeks ago and it exactly sounded like the Black Album snare

Not even close. The black album snare was a Tama Bell Brass. DW maple sounds nothing like it... ...Believe me, I've tried to get that sound out of my own DW snare & it an't gonna happen.

I know it's a completely different snare but that DW I played (again, I'm not a bit sure if it was the one that has been posted here) had exactly that character which surprised me really.
