2008 Powerfest prediction thread

I'm not a big "Prog" person to begin with, so spending a shitload of money to go to Atlanta just hasn't seemed worth it to me. Things change though, so ya never know.

Well, there's usually slightly more or higher-profile power metal than prog at ProgPower. Plus, it's definitely worth going at least once, just for the experience... it's definitely not like any other metal festival in the states. Most years, I'm only interested in about half of the bands, but I've gone to every single one so far. Hell, even John Frank goes every few years, and he's not into prog or power in general (for the most part).

I don't know that I'd recommend it over any other festival -- if you have limited options, you should go to whichever fests are most important to you, and the ProgPower trip is often quite expensive -- but if you can swing it, definitely attend at least one ProgPower, even if the lineup isn't your favorite.

enough of the reunited bands. Sadus and Forbidden wouldnt draw much.

Just a prediction, not a wish on my part.

Seems like almost every fest goes after a reunited band.
It does possess a certain draw.

I mean I certainly committed ball gravy when Vio-Lence were booked in 2002 for Milwaukee Metalfest. (Though I agree it didn't do too much for the draw)

Maybe they can get Vanden Plas since they canceled at ProgPower. I know there were lots of people that came and really wanted to see them, but were let down. I would come to Powerfest just for VP.

Even if we were interested, because of what happened last week, the members won't be allowed into the US under any circumstances for at least 7 years. So, ask us about them again in 2014.

*waits for Chase to namedrop the kvltest bands in existance*

 I didn't know baby face Chase was so cold grim and frost bitten!!!

Yeah, I guess that's my very incorrect perception of black metal.
I have a hard time getting past the low quality of most recordings and the xeroxed CDR covers. I do respect how many BM bands adopt the DIY thing.

While I do enjoy some BM bands, it's not really my thing.

You want black metal, you got it!
