Australian Idol 2006

I agree in general, but if you are going to make decisions that won't get you far in the competition, why are you in the competition to begin with?

Oh, I know that's the show and all, but it's still silly.

That and everything Gore said.

What would happen if there was a round where they had to do an original? Who would the dupes vote for when there's no one doing a Shakira cover or some Rn'B "ballad"? It would be the lowest-voting week in Idol history, but the right people would make it through, because music fans would be voting instead of image fans.

It's the small percentage of music fans that watch that have let real talent (ie, not the kind that do popular songs week in, week out) get through over the years, people like Chanel Cole and Bobby Flynn and Courtney Murphy (Chris has more mainstream appeal than Courts).

People would just vote based on previous performances, which happens in the second half of the season regardless. Thats why Reigan should have waited at least a couple of weeks to start bringing out underground tracks, because she would still be recieving votes from people who remember that she did a good version of a song they like two weeks earlier.

Bobby is good, but I think he is a one trick pony at this stage. I hope he proves me wrong, but I doubt it. Much the same as Lisa really, only he hasn't shown his true stripes yet as she has.

Was disappointing to see Klancie go last week, she wasn't the worst by a long shot.

The last two weeks have been disappointing in general though. I am over Lisa, and Dean shits me, as does Lavina. Ricky was lame, Bobby and Jessica were good but not great, Damien was the same as always (great, but he needs to do something different), and Chris was lame last week, though he was great last night. I think he is a real dark horse. While everyone is talking about Bobby, Lisa, Dean and even Lavina, Chris has been consistently better than all of them, rivalled only by Damien.

I was frustrated with Mutto last night. What he did with Dream On was fantastic, the string section sounded great, but he just isn't a good enough singer to pull it off. If Damien or Chris had done it, they would have scored a touchdown for sure, but Mutto just isn't capable of it. A for effort though.

i watched it last night for the first time ever. Turned it off during the 2nd last one though, and then kicked myself when i found out the last dude sang life in the fast lane. Great song.

Didn't really think all that much of any of 'em, but the little girl who did the steve miller song was cute at least. that bobby dude creeps me out man.

Tonight was the perfect example of why they shouldn't do specific narrow genre shows. Urgh.

Chris was solid and one of the better ones this week, as always.

Ricky was mediocre as always.

Lavina was bland as always...technically sound, but bland. She belongs back in theatre.

Damien was pretty shit. Hope he doesn't go, though.

Lisa picked a good song and could have done ok if she just piped up and actually sang it and showed more enthusiasm, but not, shit.

Dean was better than he has been since the final 12 began, which surprised me. I actually liked him this week.

I can see Bobby becoming the next Frank Bennett. Love him or hate him, he sure is interesting.

Jessica was great but not as interesting as she has been. Certainly performs beyond her years though.
