Australian Idol 2006

I don't know if I like him or not, but you can't deny that he is interesting to watch. He certainly isn't the best singer there, so I don't think he should win either, but he is interesting.
I agree that he is similar to Lisa, difference being, he is mature minded enough to accomodate his strength where as Lisa just trys to do what is asked of her and she fails.
I disagree with the touchdown as well. It was given in a similar way to the one Lee recieved for Eye Of The Tiger.

Surely this has to be the last series of Idol.
This years 'talent' is a fucking embarrasment to our country.
Sunday's show was the lamest thing I've seen for a long time.

They all want to play their guitars.... why the hell don't they just play the damn guitars? I've heard that the producers or whatever says they are not allowed but fuck them...... Grow some balls and walk out on stage with a guitar. What are they going to do, run out and rip it off them? The whole thing is so fake. Chris, or 'Handsy' as I call him is pretending to be a rockstar yet he is scared to break a stupid rule. Wheres the integrity. Fuck the rules.

I agree. If Bobby can come out on disco night and sing bossanova, and Lisa can come out and sing a not-disco song in a not-disco style, then the whole sing-this-genre thing is a farce.

And Lavinia was the best of the women.

how come the promos before they started all said "THIS YEAR IT'S ALL ABOUT ROCK", and yet so far we've had disco night, 80s night or whatever... the difference they've added "singer songwriter" night? Big deal man. They change one show and reckon that makes it "all about rock"?

Kyle actually said that to one of them a few weeks ago...Chris or Dean I think it was. He just said, if you want to turn heads, do your own thing and don't let people stop you. Good advice, pity none of them took it.

Lavina was technically a great singer, but I didn't like her at all. This made it pretty obvious that she would be good for theatre, where she came from, and should go back to.

Bobby is interesting, but if he wins it will be embarassing. Damien and Jess are two of the best that the show has seen thus far, even if Damien has done some shit songs, they are great singers with personality, and Chris has been consistently the best all series.

I didn't think Dean had much of a chance until this week, but everyone seems to be going gaga over him now. I hope he slips up again in the coming weeks.

Lisa....I want her to do her own thing this week with her guitar and stuff, and then everyone can say she got a chance to show what she can do her way, and after that, she can fuck off. Great potential, but too young/inexperienced/shy/whatever to get the job done.

Why would it be embarrassing if Bobby won? Because he's goofy and isn't your classic example of a good singer?

The two best in the comp are Chris and Bobby by a country mile. Nobody else should come close. I'll be very content if one of them is the winner, otherwise the whole thing is a joke... you know, like last year.

You know who wasn't a great singer but still did fairly well for himself?

Bob Dylan.

Not that I'm saying he's as good as Bob Dylan, but you get my point. Or probably don't.

Saying it is a joke if Damien or Jessica win over Bobby is ridiculous, when they are two of the best singers the show has ever seen. It would be nothing like last year if either of them won, because they are great singers, and Kate really was nothing special at all...she didn't even come close to scoring a touchdown from Mark for the whole series (not that that means much, but still).

As for Bob Dylan, I would appreciate him more if he wrote songs for other people to sing, so if you are trying to compare him to Bobby as a performer...:erk:

That stuff said though, I have no problem with Bobby manipulating songs to suit his style...he doesn't need to be able to do more than what he is good at, and it kind of proves that the genre shows are a waste of time when people do what they can to get out of performing something that fits the genre. If he wants to keep doing things the same way the whole time, thats fine.

Because they were trying to make it attractive to all the people who watched Rockstar Supernova. Plus, even if they wanted to push the rock angle, the plebs who watch it only vote for people who sound/look like Justin Timberlake or Shakira. Out of the top 24, almost everyone who played or sang rock got voted off before the final 12. Not only that, but they're halfway through, and still haven't done an "originals" night. If they'd been serious, they would got rock singers instead of rn'b flunkies and made them do their own songs every night. Idol is a joke. If they were serious about making stars, do you really think they'd have Marcia Hines as a judge? The only reason she's even successful is because she lives in Australia. If she'd gone back to America after Hair she'd be washing dishes for a living.

Bobby - excellent
Dean - above average
Chris - meh
Jessica - below average
Damien - excellent
Lisa - meh. Good guitarist for a chick though
Ricky - awful

Agreed! Except for Jessica. What she did was strictly, strictly generic and unimaginative, but very good. I didn't see Lisa because I went up the street to get chocolate, but I agree with the rest. Damien was awesome! And Ricky, well, the sympathy vote will get him through. But Mark and Kyle were spot on about him. What Marcia says about anyone means nothing.
