I think Camel are better too. Especially since the later KC albums are piles of turd, and IMO Camel may be the truest prog band around. Perhaps.

The only thing wrong with 'core bands is the over saturation. If anyone remembers how death metal started to suck in the early to mid '90's for a while because of over saturation then they should understand that metalcore and deathcore suffer from the same problem. Fore example, just as we didn't need a General Surgery and Cadaver in the '90's, nowadays we have no need for Mendeed or Rose Funeral.

And once again, I'd like to nominate Nightwish and Dimmu Borgir, at least some of their work.. These bands have been unjustly shafted by their blind detractors. So what if their music isn't downright necrotic; it can also be at times really evocative.

Btw, Atheist are as necrotic and dark as Buttercup soaring over fields of clover. Which is to say, not at all. So there.Also,riffs and breakdowns don't make a band, I'm sorry. Write something coherent and lucid instead of constantly confusing me with your pointless syncopation and jazzy schizophrenia.

And Cadaver are fucking incredible. Every other tech band sucks balls in comparison. The end.None are as fluid or as rhythmically arresting, or understated(the latter is a must for tech death, as far as I'm concerned).It's too bad no other bands have learned from these Norwegians' classic material so now we have overblown tech death with millions of pointless overstated breakdowns, a-rhythmic vocals and little to no atmosphere, of course siphoned by the digital production.

Most of the bands that are considered dark are actually not at all that. Like Candlemass, for instance. Their darkness is totally contrived and theatrical, in my opinion.

It's not, some of us who were angry preteens when "Follow the Leader" came out can't shake our attachment.

Their first album isn't terrible. I say that as an angry pre-teen as well when that album came out, I gravitated towards their first album more.

Nowadays they're just too whiny, but I keep a few tracks on the HD for nostalgia.
