Bands you listened to before you listened to metal

Mainly i listened to..

Our Lady Peace
DMX
and thats like.. all..

Then one day in grade 8 i heard Enter Sandman and have never stopped listenening to metal since

I listened to radio pop music especially boybands like Westlife and Backstreet boys. I used to listen to The Rasmus and Evanescence too.

I'm glad I discoverd metal:kickass:

I don't think he likes those bands anymore, and do you even know what emo is?

That's what I was thinking too... Cause those bands aren't Emo. A lot of Metalheads confuse Linkin Park with Emo.

That is all. We don't need an Emo arguement starting now.

Metallica (TBA/Reload)
Korn
Limp Bizkit
Slipknot
Deftones
Linkin Park
Deadsy
Orgy
White Zombie/Rob Zombie
Static X
Taproot
Incubus
Nirvana
Greenday
Blink 182
Foo Fighters
Chumbawumba
Avril Lavigne

I think that's literally all the bands I listened to from when I was about 11 until I turned 16 and got back into Metallica and started getting into uh... "real" metal. I still think Incubus are good and Deftones and Foo Fighters are kinda good. And Deadsy and Orgy were kinda cool even though they looked/sounded like homosexuals.

The Black Album and In Utero are good, other than that those are shit.

Oasis,
Manic Street Preechers,
Stereophonics,
Silverchair,
Bush,
Nirvana,
Staind,
The Datsuns,
The D4,
White Stripes,
Foo Fighters,
U2

Then oneday I bought Sepultura - Roots after seeing Roots Bloody Roots being played to death on Kerrap. Although its far from being great it completely changed my musical perspective.

I do still like some Oasis, The Manics and The Datsuns.

Just a question... why can't you continue to listen to bands that you listened to before getting into metal? Does being a fan of metal preclude you from liking other types of music?
Nope not at all mate, well depending on how bad it was. I won't mention what i was listening to before i was ten, basically just whatever got forced down your throat. At that age i got into Queen in a big way and didn't i cope crap for that, being the only kid in school who liked them. Other Rock acts followed until late in high school when i heard Ozzy and was sold on metal and have progressed evry since. Funny thing was the amount of stuff i liked before but had no idea who they were...

mostley rap/techno/house

but I started to listen to metal when I checked out Korn, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit and other bands like this

well, way back when, I listened to pure shit like backstreet boys ect. Then, I evolved to linkin park soad ect. However, for about a year and a half, I was into good music before discovering metal. NIN, radiohead, were my starting points. Then pink floyd and for the next year I was a prog fanatic. King Crimson, yes, genesis, tangerine dream, and even some more obscure ones like magma, einsturzende neubaten, can, John Zorx, ect. I still love all those bands, even though for many I only own one album. King Crimson are still my all time favorite band.

Me, too.
And I am gonna see them live in September (playing together with Bloodhound Gang - that's why I'll be there), they are just fun. I do not use to listen to them anymore but I always sing along on parties and stuff :D

I really only listened to radio stuff until I was about nine or ten, or sometihng. Then I got into bands like Linkin Park, Evanescence, SOAD, and Slipknot and stuff. And just this year I started really getting into real metal. That's thirteen years old, if you were wondering.
