Black Metal Recommendations-Beyond the Obvious

the question stands :loco: even better if its not happening any time soon

fuck new Vintersorg, i still don't own Odemarkens Son or Till Fjalls

"With Solens Rötter, or "The Origin of the Sun", the band returns to its roots, deeply anchored within traditional Nordic soundscapes, and further strengthening them by blending in the elements that modern Metal has to offer. The ever-so-present Folk influence, including flute, harp, and violin arrangements, merges skillfully with the technical prowess of both drummer, guitarist, and session/live bassist Johan Lindgren to create poignant and versatile songs that can only be the work of VINTERSORG. An eloquent symbiosis of hymn-like passages, cold Black Metal, and Nordic music, crowned by Vintersorg's impressive vocals that prefer to focus this time around on nature and its poetic language than on the scientific perspectives of previous releases."

oh yeah. get ready for it.

believe it or not, i've had like 10 people offer their talents since the beginning of the band. maybe i should have a track with all of them! harharharhah

well today I got complimented on my playing by an excellent guitarist whose been playing for probably over two decades so i can't be that bad!

keep it in mind!

i will, for real. you never know when an additional talent is needed!

edit: if you pay for the recording you can do whatever the fuck you want on it (within reason)!

excellent! btw: i dropped your old guitar and it is in even shittier condition than before now. haha

but ive got a far superior one now! but if it wasn't for yours, i wouldn't have bought this new one! so thanks!

Voidhanger is a friend of mine. Great guy, and has one HELL of a cd collection! He has taught me more about black metal in the past few weeks than this forum has in 3 years!

He helped me get into metal as well. Esp. by recommending Penance.

Did you post on the Barbarian Wrath board? I know you posted on bravewords, but I can't stomach that place anymore.

Armagedda - Ond Spiritism.

What do you guys think of this release? I was listening to it a bit ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. I seem to have to be in a certain mood for this album.. There are times I start it and am bored to tears. Others, I think it's great. Maybe I'm just a poser.

Ond Spiritism - Djæfvulens Skalder is a great album as far as I'm concered. ARMAGEDDA is one of the few bands that I think actually got better with age. Their first album was boring as hell, second was a thrashy BATHORY-worship slab of guitarmageddon, and their last was more complicated, more creative and just genuinely good venture into black metal.

I never heard the second album but definitely agree with your statement that they have improved with age. I had heard the 2nd was great so I assumed it was more of the same. The third is much, much better than their debut IMO.
