I've just gotten into Mutiilation and I really like it. I've heard the first two albums and I think they're great.

I'll have to check them out. I always thought they were more troo/Darkthroney black metal than depressive BM.

Their production is too clean to be true, and their songs have too many riffs and variations to be Darkthroney.

umm don't mean to be rude but Dimmu Borgir are considered a pop band around here...entry level Black Metal at best but stick around and i'm sure you'll find out about some aweome bands,i'd just advise that you don't carry on about Dimmu Borgir or Cradle of Filth too much or else you'll get flamed,although both bands first albums were ok.And tbh i used to enjoy Enthrone Darkness Triumphant when it first came out.

Alright, I'll give you that. The German and French bands are tough to compete with and it's difficult for me to pick a favorite scene, let alone a favorite band.
