I was wondering, if Mayhem's most influential album is "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas", then what's Immortal's?

I really don't think they all sound very similar, in fact I think most of them sound pretty different. And he asked what their most influential album was, not necessarily their best (though I do think it is their best).

I've enjoyed all of the Immortal albums I've heard

Aye. I thoroughly love each Immortal album because each of them has a different atmosphere to it (mostly because of the production). Though, Damned in Black and Sons of Northern Darkness sound too similar to each other in production value and songwriting.

I like all of their stuff, though the first three are my favorites. They stopped playing black metal after Battles in the North, but the post-BitN albums are still good.

I'm been listening to Mayhem - DMDS lately, and I've really noticed more than ever how much the vocals suck. Particularly the times when he tries to sing a vocal melody in his gruff bm voice.
