Black Metal.

People interested in more than background music? But if generic music with unintentionally humorous imagery is what gets your toes tappin', then have at it. :kickass:

Uh...okay. Thanks?

Edit: @King Richard...yes I know. However, we're talking about how the band probably does not fully comprehend English and their song titles are a reflection of that. Why should I judge a band's music on their song titles if they are awkward? That's not a very mature way of looking at it (unless they are obviously a complete joke).

I know what you are saying. I didn't mean you should not listen to them for those specific reasons. However, how much sense does it make to compose an album and then try and sell it while you use a language you aren't exactly fluent in? Just kind of makes you look stupid in my opinion.

Blue Jay, Wyrd is a pretty below average band for the most part. Try out Averse Sefira - Battle's Clarion
Inquisition - Nefarious Dismal Orations
Mgla (any)
Nachtmystium - Instinct: Decay

All have pretty fresh, clear production.
Totally disagree about Wyrd, but those recommendations are fucking spot on. I might switch Averse Sefira to Homecoming's March and Inquisition to Invoking the Majestic Throne... oh shit nevermind, he wants good production, those are both worse. Forget it.:loco:

Sketches of Reality by Nae'blis is my favorite release so far this year.
Fuck yes. I have a top 35 list of black metal right now for this year, and Nae'blis also sits at the very top.

It certainly didn't blow me away upon first listen, and with song titles like that it would have to for me to give it a second chance.
I really like the Be Persecuted album. The fact that you 1) invest so much in song titles and 2) think an album that blows you away on first listen is necessarily good, makes me think that you either have really bad taste or are simply immature.

Fuck yes. I have a top 35 list of black metal right now for this year, and Nae'blis also sits at the very top.

I believe I've listened to that Nae'blis album but it was probably a while ago. I've been busy as of the past couple months so I haven't been able to check out that many albums, but still continue to download. I'd be interested in seeing your top 35 list, so I don't need to waste time finding the better of this year's (I remember your top 10 or so list you made a while back). I probably have them all downloaded, just haven't had the chance to listen to them all yet.

This is a week or two old so there are some recently leaked/acquired albums that won't be making an appearance till the end-of-year list.

I posted the list before I saw this. :loco:

The first time I listened to Nae'blis I recall it being too raw and much too complex for me to absorb. The first track (there are only 4) clicked on the 3rd or 4th listen, and the rest followed. I reviewed it on MA, if you are interested.

It's worth mentioning that if I combined the best stuff from the 2 LPs and 1 demo from Drowning the Light just this year, it would definitely take the #1 spot. To avoid taking 3 spots in the top 10, I combined the three releases and only used 2 spots. Having To The End of Time at #2 was unavoidable.

In fact, I did just that and made a 74 minute compilation of DtL's best 2007 tracks, and I'm pretty sure that if it were an actual album it would be damn near my top 5 black metal ever. Drowning the Light is really that good.

too bad number 35 should be #1

if you bought all those, you have my respect. if you downloaded them, you have my disdain

(not that you care, but i thought id let you know)

Marduk - Rom 5:12
Naglfar - Harvest
N.I.L. - N.I.L.
Watain - Sworn to the Dark

Got other 2,need to check these 2 out.
@Zephyrus,since as far as I know you are an Aborym fan.I am really liking their album "generator",are the previous albums as good as this? Can you recomend me any band like them?
And did you check out new Behemoth?Have you liked it?

And I like Be persecuted too.The song title & cover this stuff I also look for in an album, but if I like the music I don't care that much. And since good BM from Asia is rare,so....
By the way,can anyone tell me where to find their lyrics?

I wasn't referring to the production. Musically it just sounded like another band, and when an artist chooses a medium (in this case the English language) that they are utterly inept at using, then they fail to convey their message. All you have left are pretty sounds with funny names, which isn't what I look for in my music. If that's wrong, then I don't want to be right.

More people will buy a record incompetently sung in English than one competently sung in Chinese.

Generator is their crowning achievement but all their albums are excellent. I would pick up With No Human Intervention and work my way backwards. Fire Walk With Us is great, especially for the Burzum cover. I haven't picked up their first album yet, but I will soon.

If you want a band similar to Aborym I would recommend Mysticum. You should also check out the re-vamped version of The Kovenant's In Times Before the Light.

And did you check out new Behemoth?Have you liked it?

Yes and yes.

I listened to Be Persecuted last night, sitting by a beach fire. It was quite an experience. I kept imagining the vocalist was being burned at the stake over the fire I was gazing upon. THe production is perfect to convey an atmosphere of such painfully depressive emotions, and the melodies are solid. I also liked how the drumming was more varied than many albums of the same ilk.

Can't help you on lyrics, sorry.
