Blackwater Park: The song

Blackwater park is a nice way to close out the album. Its so fucking unrelenting.

I don't consider Blackwater Park the end of the album, I would be missing out so much if I didn't get to hear Still Day Beneath The Sun and Patterns In The Ivy II. Patterns in the Ivy II is a fine way to close out that album. ;) But yes, I love Blackwater Park, it's one of the many songs to get me into Opeth.

For me, Still Day and Patterns II are just bonus tracks, a nice treat for us to hear, but not meant to be part of BWP. They don't belong on the album, or else they would have been released *on* the album. There was plenty of room left on the CD to fit them on, but the band chose not to, and released them instead as a bonus CD; hence they aren't part of album canon.

Blackwater Park is the close of the album.

And yes, it is one of my favorite Opeth songs, alongside April Ethereal and Deliverance.

Finally someone agrees! This is actually my favorite Opeth song, which is kind of weird since there really are no clean vocals. It doesn't necessarily show ALL of their talents, but it's so fucking heavy that it gets me every time I hear it! The last two minutes of that song are fantastic.

That song is indeed very awesome! My first Opeth cd was Blackwater Park and that song is the first one that i really liked! Until now its still my favorite from that album.

Still Day and Patterns II were recorded later, by Mikael at Jonas Renske's place. They were made specially for the rerelease. I put them right after BWP in my MP3 playlist though. It's a nice encore kind of thing.

Ive been saying that its such an underrated song for a while now....... It's my favorite song of all time........

Once the heavy part kicks in after the soft part, then hold on....the song just constantly kicks your ass non stop...... ton of great riffs..... and the simple repeating acoustic guitar buried in the mix makes it all the more incredible......

Easy on the person who said that slap bass equaled nu-metal. I'm pretty sure it was just a joke. You know, considering Fieldy from Korn slaps...
