Brewing my last beer of this brew season, a pale ale with mainly american hops. Will be the birthday present for two of my relatives that celebrate 50 this summer.

Sassafras? Don't know the flavour of sassafras. How does it taste?
There's a Swedish gum that was popular around 20 years ago called "Jenka" that nails it.
But most rootbeers also are fairly flavored with sassafras to give that characteristic taste.
