What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse
Yeah, sometimes I can't rename, delete, or move a file when it's CLOSED, until I close the program that it was running in. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Well, I've never known a chick into ATM but I'm sure there are some chicks into it. They do it in porn movies, and that's a pretty good reflection of real life chicks right?NAD said:Oh yuck, that's sick shit. How is that appealing???
what in fuck's name are you talking about?Erik said:Heh, I had a "nice" experience with Windows yesterday... I use it for certain audio applications to which there are no real replacements on GNU/Linux...
So I was editing this large sound file in CoolEdit, doing quite a bit on work on it, when all of a sudden I run out of disk space. So I figure "hah, I thought this was a 4 Gbyte disk?" and I go check what takes up all the space. In C:\ i find a pagefile.sys weighing in at 1.3 gigabytes. This is a system with 896 Mbytes of RAM, and Windows decides it 1.3 gigabytes of virtual memory. So I throw random curses at Windows and decide to lower the virtual memory size to 0, since there's no way in hell I am ever going to use 1.3 Gbytes. It won't let me turn off virtual memory... Apparently the "minimum size" is 2 Mbytes. Stupid, but not really a big loss so I figure WTF and set it to 2 Mbytes. [OK] - "The system must be restarted for the changes to take effect."
Err. So there I sit with an unsaved audio file with large amounts of work put into it that I cannot save to disk because Windows has decided to set the swap file to a maximum size of 2.6 Gbytes. On a system with nearly 900 Mbytes of RAM. And I cannot remove the file.
I love Windows!
Another ENTIRELY FUCKING BRAINDEAD thing is how you cannot delete files in Windows that are currently opened by an application. Hey MS fuckfaces, I've opened it! It's in RAM! I should be able to delete the copy on disk!
I hate every second I have to use Windows.
