I disagree with this notion. Most people are woefully ignorant (and this usually is not their fault), but I don't think that this is the same as being an idiot.

V For Vendetta didn't make sense? What was so confusing about it?

It wasn't confusing as much as just really badly put together. It's no wonder the original writer refused to have his name associated with it.

I agree that the V for Vendetta movie was quite bad. The action scenes were ok and all, but they ruined so much from the comic. Especially the love story shit. Wtf is up with that? It totally made V feel like a normal human and not the immortal idea he strived for and should have become like in the comic.

Edit: On the Lovecraft topic, I must admit that I've never gotten into his writing style, which is a shame because I really like his stories and mythos. I need to read more of it and maybe I get into it more.

you remind me so much of my best friend. Nicest bloke ever - he makes a shitload of money working for Shell but has no qualms about Shell's environmental or human rights record because he believes in a world full of selfish and stupid people the strong have a right to succeed.

I find Lovecraft's work entertaining enough but, as with Tolkein, I'm far from being in the 'z0mjgso good!123' camp.

i don't think you can legitimately hate lovecraft's style without hating everything about lovecraft, and hardly anybody seems to do the latter

that and 28 days later are the only good 'serious' horror movies that i've heard of in recent years

i'm not sure a film needs to be "serious" to have "depth and artistry" as i put it, but sure, i agree that the shit-to-good ratio in horror has been really fucking high these past few years. i just don't like the blanket statements.

tbh IQ is highly problematic and I think is of little use in measuring what it claims to measure.
