i love how all of the threads i click on happen to be yours joey. I swear i'm not even looking at who started them haha.

I would stay away from the NT5's if i were you. They are great for a starter OH set, but you need better than that. They sound quite thin. I'm looking to get a new pair of something else asap

i kinda want the km184's but the price tag sux

i just spent like 6 grand on plugins so im not trying to break the bank

Alot of people love the modded Octavas, didnt have the change to try one.

If I remember correctly your room isnt very well treeded? Living room?

IMO small condensers with a lot of high-end sound very thin in "bad" rooms.
Made this experience with Beyerdynamics, Audix, nt5´s....

In my not treeded, crap room the AKG c1000 were the best.

You own a at4040 right? So you could by another one and make a A/B with them or an X/Y

go with the beyerdynamic mc930 - i got a pair for 500 Euro, and they slay the km184 that i used on sessions last year.

mc930 are somehow a standard for overheadmicing, but also km84 are very very nice mics! km184 sound very hyped on the high end.
mc930 are more versatile, i even recorded strings with this!
