One of my first death-metal bands. I've put them on the shelf for too long. I'm now listening to Individual Thought Patterns and I am kicking myself for being so neglectful.

Anyone else? :worship:

Go to progarchives.com and click on progressive metal. Then scroll down and listen to "The Philosopher". Then go buy Individual Thought Patterns.

Obey me or die. Remember I live only 30 minutes away from you... :Smug:

They have some good stuff, but pretty much all their catalogue I downloaded all at once and I was just never able to digest it all. I don't think they really do it for me anyway... sure, they were pioneers and I would have thought they were the greatest if I had started listening to them in the late 80s, but nowadays, there is just too much other music like that, to the point where they don't really stand out to me.

I'm guessing you're listening to the early stuff. Yeah, the early stuff sounds generic now. The later stuff is where it's at. Especially Control Denied.

As for me, I'm a massive fan. Probably my favorite band (well, the combination of Death and Control Denied anyway). They seem to strike a chord with me. For me, they're greater than the sum of individual members.

And I expected a LOT more "Death is teh unprawg, you unsophisticated twats. Erk."

I have the whole Death catalogue. I haven't heard Control Denied yet though.

They still stand out to me from the loads of DM bands these days. Theres just something about their sound that appeals to me more than any of the newer bands. I pretty much hate death metal these days but Death still owns.

My Death Ranking :

1. Symbolic ( Hoglan !!!)
2. Human ( Reinert !!!)
3. Individual Thought Patterns ( Hoglan !!!) : The Philoooooosooooooooophhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4. The Sound of Perseverance ( Richard Christy !!!)

NEver heard the first three albums except the song Pull the Plug.

^ You have to listen to Scream Bloody Gore!

I have only heard a few Death albums but I can say that Death rules, Chuck is one of teh best (RIP). I liked Symbolic the least probably

^ I am sure that you must have some additional thoughts on this seminal Deathmetal band??? While I agree with your statement somewhat I have reason to believe that you have neglected in posting further opinions that you have regarding the awesomeness of Death!!!!
