did anyone see the documentary one BBC2 'death metal mursers'.
some italian kid and his girl we 'sacrificed', he played in a band called 'infliction'.
It also talked alot about 'Deiceide', the florida based metal heads and also ',mayhem', who i personally think are shit.
It also had a part about slayer who were blamed for coz this guy listened to them and their lyrics made him do it, anyway, i always thought slayer where thrash metal not death metal?
anyway interesting stuff but man, their is some people who take lyrics way to literally

I personally like Deicide. Their stuff makes me giggle! And yeah,
Slayers riffing style is closely related to death metal, although you are correct, they are thrash metal. And as for the murders? I think they are pointless, obviously. I hate it when people blame bands because they have to justify why they are acting that way. They can't handle the fact that it was the murderer's faults not the bands! Seriously, people are stupid!

This was mentioned a lot in the Emperor thread by the way guys. Look there for others opinions on the show! :)

Yes, I watched it was good. Why do they always have to blame everything on Slayer and Deicide. If it's not them it's Marilyn Manson. It's not the music that makes people commit murders. They always say it is. Lots of people commit murders and don't even listen to metal music!

A fair judgement said:

Which was pretty much quoted from the show! :loco:

But yeah, its true. Lots of people listen to the funny voices in their heads when they commit these crimes. If an average non metal person started listening to the DM voices in their heads they'd be like... "uhhh.. grunt grunt grunt?! What the hell does that mean?"

Haha...funny stuff :Spin:

Dammit!
I was gonna do this thread XP

My father and i watched...we laughed our asses off all the way through, how the hell can violent lyrics cause people to kill people?!
The kids were fuckin nuts anyway
What they didn't do was show death metal bands like Opeth and Black metal bands like Akercoke who aren't singing about killing and shit like that

You can't blacme something you don't understand on murder
I mean a bet more murders are cause by people who listen to hardcore belgian trance

But anyways that monk dude was cool ^_^

Don't you know - people who aren't very musically aware seem to think anything with screams / shouts / growls / grunts = death metal.
I didn't see it and I'm actually surprised that BBC2 knew who Deicide were lol.

Akercocke (pretty much all of it is like this actually, no idea what you're on)
I drink deep of my sisters blood
Phallic benediction
Purify the air with bells
unholy steps thirteen
of ceremonial darkness
Utilize the power of Sheol
Satan

Opeth
Each and every one would die at my hand
Choking in warm ponds of blood

They don't do it as cheesily as Cannibal Corpse etc but I reckon most bands you listen to focus their music around death, and Akercocke are about as satanist as bands get.

Lmfao, sorry, but that made me crack up. Akercocke are satanists. They do sing of satanic shit etc .. Some parts from Enraptured By Evil:
"I curse the cross and trinity - as the beasts have allowed me.
To personify their goat lord god - the honour is mine."

"Coming for your son to drink his fucking blood, and humiliate the corpse."

Indeed Akercocke are a great band, but i can hardly say they're the same shining example that Opeth are :p

Anyway, on the programme. Already i've had people asking me if i sacrifice or condone the murders etc because i listen to the same gernes of music. All because of this pathetically biased pile of drivel. The murders are cases of immature alcoholic druggys who went too far. Similar things have happened before. It would be stupid to deny they happened, but it's stupid to generalise that death metal is going to effect everybody.

Satanic Death Metal of course. But to be honest it was more about the lyrics and imagery than the music.

lol dude i realised that i soon as i posted
I'm like "OMG i'm such a fucking n00b "

I had a big discussion with it about my religious education teacher, he thought it was a load of shite as well ^^

My impressions of it:

1) The death metal monk was fucking awesome.
2) Dissection are a bunch of dorks who take themselves way too seriously. I like their music but listening to what they had to say on that show really made me lose some respect for them. Maybe if they were teenagers or something then attitudes like that could be overlooked but they all looked well into their 30's. Pretty lame.

Does anyone have a link where we could downloand this from? I looked for it on the BBC site, but couldn't find it...

Thanks.

@BRI - I played some guy some Akercocke and he played me his UK Garage.. to which i said "this is fucking awful" .. and he replied with "At least i don't listen to your bleurgh bleurgh bleurgh shit like Bigcocks". I chuckled :)

@ April Ethereal - Nah dw, i've done that sort of stuff shitloads of times and i'm surprised my mouse isn't screwed from franticly bashing the edit button!
My form tutor asked me if i watched it because he knows i like Death Metal - he was joking with me asking how people i've ritually slaughtered. He then went on to say that it's bullshit and that the parents should look at themselves before jumping on the bandwagon of blaming the music.

@ CAIRATH - Yeh, Dissection seemed like a bunch of pricks to be honest. And Glen Benton came across as more money hungry than for the music. The guy who came across best in my oppinion was the Funky Monk!

hahaha, indeed, everyone seems to love that funky monk! Anyone have any pictures of him by the way? I want one!
