Death Metal

dismember are so annoyingly overrated ugghhh. actually so is a lot of stockholm stuff hence my question. there's plenty of great swedeath though

I assume you don't like them because they have a more conventional rockish sound?
The sound on LAEFS is also very busy, which I suppose can annoy many people.
Regardless, songs like Dismembered and Override the Overture are instant classics. :kickass:

horrible irredeemable bassy sunlight fuzz combines with bland, sterile drums and shitty groove riffs to create this totally artificial, shallow mood. songwriting's pretty messy too (not in a good way). this mostly applies to the first half of the album which i don't understand the praise for at all (OtO included), i quite like the second half.

incidentally i heard 'indecent and obscene' the other day and was unimpressed

'the nocturnal silence' would be quite a lot better if it'd got further away from dismember's influence too, that's another reason not to like them

I agree with you there, LAEFS is not really an atmospheric album, more a riff-oriented one, but there are a couple of pretty epic moments scattered throughout it. I don't like the drumming either-thud -thud-thud-thud-thud, totally unimaginative.Actually, the vocals are also bad but they're one with the production:lol:
I think I like it most for its flow, it flows really well.

Swedish death metal "supergroup" BLOODBATH will release its new studio album, "The Fathomless Mastery", on October 6 via Peaceville Records. The band described the upcoming CD as representing "nothing but hateful brutality." Promising its "most crushing production yet," the group's lineup on "The Fathomless Mastery" is the same as that on BLOODBATH's "Unblessing the Purity" mini-CD, which came out in March:

Mikael Åkerfeldt (OPETH) - Vocals
Martin "Axe" Axenrot (OPETH) - Drums
Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström (KATATONIA) - Guitar
Jonas Renkse (KATATONIA) - Bass
Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson (ex-21 LUCIFERS, GENOCRUSH FEROX) - Guitar

BLOODBATH released a live CD/DVD digipack entitled "The Wacken Carnage" on June 2 in Europe and June 24 in the U.S. via Peaceville. The package contains footage of the band's appearance at the 2005 edition of the Wacken Open Air festival.

Commented the group: "Almost three years have passed since this carnage took place in Wacken, but worry not — we were already past our best 'expiration date' back when we started the band, so this concert will consequently prove our old school principled death metal values remain timeless. The elegantly brutal artwork was created by Travis Smith."

Check out a mini-site for "The Wacken Carnage" featuring a video clip from the DVD, a desktop wallpaper and pre-order links to the webstore and iTunes at this location.

OPETH's Mikael Åkerfeldt previously stated about his return to BLOODBATH, "I was slightly 'talked into' coming back but I certainly don't regret it now. Obviously I am busy all the time, both with my family and OPETH, so don't hold your breath for any massively extensive tours, BUT, I do believe we'll do the occasional gigs when the time is right. I was asked to sing on a four-track release the other guys been working with entitled 'Unblessing the Purity' and I have to say it's the best fucking death metal I've heard since 'Domination', and I'm not even counting my own involvement. I just basically did what they wanted me to and it sounds really good! We might record another album as well sometime later...

:)

Fuck Yes

I love NMF especially the production and guitar tone. RTC will always be my favorite Bloodbath and regardless it makes no sense to write another one or make another album with the same guitar sound production and music. Bloodbath while keeping their sound change things up which is nice because it keeps you on the edge as a fan of them and as musicians.

Ozzman what did you think of Unblessing The Purity ?

Breeding Death EP is the best one IMO, although all of their releases are good.

I hope the new full-length is different from Unblessing The Purity but still awesome of course.

I've heard almost all the songs from Unblessing The Purity on XM Liquid Metal radio and I really like it, especially Sick Salvation. what does Nightmares Made Flesh sound like?
