Death Metal

Hypocrisy are very accessible, I'd say. There isn't much not getting into there, it's all quite straightforward. Abducted was a gateway album for me into heavier death metal.

Well, I can't get into them because the music seems watered down and tame; like mediocre melodeath or something. Their first two (or maybe three) albums are not like that, though. I prefer to listen to real death metal.

You're talking in retrospect,i.e. compared to the classics, yea they're pretty vapid and predictable. I did not start my exploration of the genre with the classics, however. Sometimes I wish I had. Could've saved me a lot of cash.

Because it is as heavy as fuck without being "brutal." I think I like "Last One on Earth" a tiny bit better. Both are great.

It's pretty much dead even for me, maybe slightly in favor of The Rack. But yeah, that's probably a good reason.

Ender, listen to Unanimated. They're quite accessible and ear-friendly but with greater degree of depth in their music. Should last you longer than Hypocrisy.

I have a nostalgic connection to Hypocrisy so I'm sure that adds a little something. Also they are melodic without using the Gothenburg riff which I loathe. I often use them as a warmup listen before I listen to Brutal death. The nonmetal songs they are also very good.
