Death Metal

They're really playing it safe, eh? Sounds like Slaughter of the Soul through the lense of the last 20 years of Swedish death/thrash. It's good, but I would have hoped for something a little more ambitious from them.

Also remember that that is one song out of 13. And playing it safe would have been (at least by today's standard for most melodeath bands) adding in clean vocals and catchy choruses. None of that here. I still think it will be good, if not great.

New Decapitated is surprisingly good. They've created a great atmosphere using just the guitars, which I like. No keys or synth. Lots of progressive songwriting going on, as well. I am quite impressed. More thrashy at times, proggy at others, which is fine. Some of it reminds me of early The Crown material. Maybe not so much in melody as in atmosphere. I'll stop rambling, just check if out if you're keen.

ambition? from a band that abandoned all creative ambition after their second album?

heh

not surprisingly, the only thing this song has going for it is tompa

I knew AtG was only going to play a song or two from the only era that matters (Svensson) this year at MDF, so I made sure to stay back until they started the intro of "Raped by the Light of Christ" during which I shoved my way up front in the most belligerent manner possible so I could go apeshit for a glorious 180 seconds. After that I sat through more SotS horseshit hoping to hear "Kingdom Gone", but got bored really quickly and left to get drunk in the hotel room.

I'm not even going to bother clicking on that shit. Let me guess, there are lots of pedal point riffs.

Ok I will have to listen to that song again when i get home... But those vocals sounded sooo bad through my phone speakers.

^Yeah Im not sure what to think of the vocals yet, have to wait for the album.

After the first two spins I was really disappointed. But right now Im blown away by Nest, fucking awesome track. Need to give this album a chance.

if i saw 'raped by the light of christ' live id probably just get my dick out and wank myself off all over the confused SotS-worshipping 16 year olds tbh

Man, it's depressing. They can still do the songs from the first two albums absolute justice. If they did a tour playing nothing but tracks from the Svensson era, it would definitely be one of the best shows ever.

But yeah, you're pretty much right. I think I was the only one shouting along the lyrics and going apeshit to that song right after they did "Blinded by Fear", which the entire crowd obviously loved.

Yea man I was just talking to a friend yesterday about "Nest". Great track! Don't give up on the rest of the album, mate, most of the songs are able to create a similar atmosphere! It's a great record.
