Death Metal

I honestly wish people would stop using "autistic" as an insult. Fuck off, cunts.

Is it worse than calling someone a retard? Theres already enough butthurt on this board as is. Do we really need to be more sensitive?

I dont get listening to every freaking album in existence btw. I dont see how you can appreciate an album youve only listened to a time or two. Thats just not how i listen to music..

I couldn't imagine listening to that much music and gaining any really substance from it.

I dont typically try to find unknown bands, I just happened to look this up after I saw it mentioned somewhere and its pretty cool for what it is. Its dark and heavy as fuck, very OSDM in an Altars of Madness on 'roids vein. Apparently they have a debut due out soon, too. I'll probably like it.

It's certainly not new by any means, but I would recommend the band Pavor. I was trying to think of them the other day and couldn't think of the name. Fantastic stuff.

EDIT: Also try Aeon of Horus and Pestifer. Some of the best new proggy DM bands of today.

I was thinking about ordering a big pile of Death Metal albums but can't decide what I'm going to buy. I'm going to buy 'Diabolical - Neogenesis', 'Encoffination - III – Hear Me, O’ Death' and a lot more which I can't decide. Anyone who can just throw out some suggestions? doesn't matter if it's obvious and/or generic bands/albums. Anything of OSDM, BDM, TDM, Doom-Death Metal, Blackened Death Metal. Thanks in advance.

I'd grab Nightfall - The Living Ever Mourn, Witherscape - The Inheritance in case you don't have/missed them. The first is a great doom/death album while the second is a prog/death hybrid. Both Excellent.

Just listened to Death Karma's new lp. There are some decent moments but none of the songs really stuck with me at all. I think the synth style they have going works better with Cult of Fire.

That said, a lot of this material wouldn't sound out of place on a CoF album.

15 years and counting on new Lykathe(a Aflame).

:kickass: I cant blame you, Cosmogenesis is one of the greatest tech-death albums of all time.

Let me know what you think of Elements.

Ok so Elements is progressive as fuck - those guys were out there on this album. I mean, I'm enjoying it for sure, but everything is unexpected. It's gonna take me a few more listens to wrap my head around it. Good call.

How's Lykathea Aflame related? Is it the same members?

I was listening to the new AtG and realized that the song "Death and the Labyrinth" has a very similar style to Hail of Bullets. There's something about the rhythm that has sort of a lumbering? riff that you can mentally match to the image of tanks rolling over everything, particularly the riff backing the lyrics "Death and the Labyrinth". What would you call that sort of riff?

Which riff/riffs? The chuggy riffs are pretty standard riffs but they have a djent-ish chug to them. I think they're using 7 strings as well, but not like In Flames does. They're playing actual riffs, mixed with the low tuning and thick, machine like distortion and it comes out sounding like a steam roller.

EDIT: or a tank

What makes you think they're using 7 strings? I imagine they're just using regular 6 strings tuned to B, like they have on all (as far as I can recall) their releases.

That main riff has a very quarter note feel, especially when it's over the double bass, which sounds a bit like left, right, left, right marching I guess.
