Anyway, few more from me, Death Delirium stole a lot of my favourite bands though, Candlemass are brilliant and Katatonia, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost and Daylight Dies (*disclaimer* I know they are a tad emo, get over it) are all some of my favourite bands. Draconian I would easily rate in my top five, you need to give these guys a listen if you like female vocals in metal and/or doom/death, Opeth.
Anyway, have not seen these mentioned so,
Type O Negative: Hardly a surprise coming from my Avatar and sig. but when it comes to satire and manipulation these guys are gods amongst (depressed) men
Anathema: Look for their ealier work, dont touch their later alt-rock crap. They are usually compared, and rated below, similar bands from the same area and time period such as Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride but could hold their own with both of them.
Mael Mordha: Folk/Doom? Whatever it is it works, chilling stuff.
The Prophecy: The best thing to come out of England since the last big English doom band. Its stirring and bleak, a tad progressive and a breath of dank air. I am nuts for the vocals, just check out the song "Rivers".
Celtic Frost: I think these guys could get a mention in a recommendation thread for black metal, death metal and thrash metal as well. I dont need to say much about these guys.
